SOLVITE WALLPAPER ADHESIVES

I quite enjoy a bit of DIY and one of the things I like to do is hang wallpaper -
it is great way to get a new finish to a room and the results don't take too long to achieve.
I live in a house where the walls are not perfectly finished
so wallpapering is useful to cover up the odd imperfection.
Whenever I am wallpapering I usually make a bee-line for the Solvite Wallpaper Adhesive
because I have been really pleased with this product whenever I have used it.
Many years ago they ran a series of TV adverts
where they pasted a bloke on to a board using Solvite
and then flew him over the countryside to show how effective it was.
If I am honest I never really was convinced that the stuff was that good
(and I certainly wouldn't take part in that stunt to prove it one way or another)
but it was a distinctive enough advert to make me use it the first time
and I have used it, and got great results, ever since.
It now comes in three varieties Extra Strong, Pink Extra Strong and Paste the Wall Extra Strong -
funny that they don't do a standard variety if they do an 'Extra Strong' ? -
I tend to use the basic Extra Strong.
They developed the pink one so that you could see where you had pasted the paper
but I have never felt the need to use it because I can generally see what I am doing -
however if you do use the pink I am assured that it dries clear
so it shouldn't make any difference which you prefer.
When wallpapering with Solvite you need to mix it according to the instructions on the packet
depending on the type of wallpaper you are planning to hang.
Heavier wallpapers need a 'thicker' mix and thus you add less water.
The instructions on the pack also helpfully tell you how many rolls you could expect to hang
depending on the mix you choose.

After initial success, the business was acquired by Henkel in 1973.
First Solvite set out to own the generic benefit of the market: sticking power.
The product was torture-tested on national TV
with a stuntman pasted to a Solvite-yellow board and suspended from a helicopter flown over Miami.
The man on the board is part of British DIY life.

Poor guy

We used to paper when we lived in the city; it was an old house with imperfect walls and had paper throughout (OLD).

Our present house is 30 years old with painted walls; we just redid it before Jim's surgery except for 2 rooms that don't need it yet.
Paper is frowned upon here when you go to sell a home now.

Yes, Gail Sis' the guy seemed confident
he would remain attached to the board
Indeed, he was so-confident, that I was sure
that he knew he couldn't fall [perhaps because of a concealed harness ]

We wouldn't use ordinary wallpapers here either

The type I have installed
is the kind that gives an 'artex-type' patterned surface
and is suitable for painting..... All-done now....
Tomorrow, I will begin the painting of, the other
seven [7] wall surfaces, in the living room [not three ]

Laddie is well, we had a short, but productive training session today, his age now is equal to a teenager, he is trying his luck I think.

I used similar years ago .... the 'damaged area' sits in the hole [?]
while everything else takes your weight

God bless everyone. It's quite windy tonight. My dog Suzy was scared by the wind when we went for a walk. I calmed her and she walked in it okay. I was afraid the wind would pick her up. She only weighs less than 20 pounds.

I can remember how disappointed I was...some 35 years ago, when I could not use these artificial sweetners...they made my colon hurt something awefull...now I am so glad i never really used them...a silent killer amongst us for sure.

Hello Joy, Gail, Angelwind and Tom,

Nice to see you all. Quiet day in here so far. Andrea is home for the weekend for the Dr Who 50th Anniversary celebrations. She and James will be watching it all on tv but Mark's going out to see it at the cinema.

I need to go out to get some food in for tomorrow.
