It feels like March here  so damp and cold!

Summer warmth sounds good today :D

Your winter was very cold compared to mine...boy, we have the windows open here a lot allready...and I have changed my clothes a bit...way lighter stuff for hot days.

Yes, I have a bad back and quite a bit of arthritis. The exercise is helping - at least for me. I think that strengthening the muscles takes pressure off of the joints. My doctor told me that losing weight also takes pressure off of the joints, and I think he was right. I still need to lose more weight, but I'm getting there a little bit at a time. We haven't been doing this on the principle of "no pain, no gain". Instead, if it hurts, we'll slow down or adjust things. The overall result is that we're feeling better a little bit at a time. I'm convinced that many people stop their exercise program because they try to do too much - and it hurts. A good example would be using lower weights and doing more repetitions. I also like it that the machines won't let you do the exercise wrong and hurt yourself. So, I think that the best advice is to start slowly and build up slowly. Planet Fitness has two mottos that they practice: 1 - no judgment, 2 - no criticism. This I think establishes an environment where all people, regardless of fitness level, feel welcome to workout at their own pace.

How much does this cost you?

$10 per month for each of us, and Planet Fitness is open 24/7. We consider it a bargain.
They are really good
My son goes there; he is 32 ...with cerebral palsy affecting just his legs.
They have been wonderful in establishing a workout for him, so you are in good hands :)

Today feels like FALL here...very cool (40's) and windy... with peeks of sun but a risk of pop up showers. The kids and my sister (with her hubby) are coming for our Holiday BBQ.
My grandkids will be with their other grandparents to have a BBQ with their cousins; I'm going to miss them :(
But the littlest guy turns 10 next week, so we'll see his for his birthday :)
We got him a remote control car...that should be fun :D

Have a nice day everyone

It sounds like you have a nice day planned, Gail. I missed our cookout today, at friends from church, because I got no sleep last night. I also have a slight cold virus going on. It looks like they have a great day outside for it. It actually felt good to lounge around today. It will be an alright day, as long as my girl shows up soon to help me get cleaned up and going. Rarely do I allow myself to be this slow to start.

Hi Marsha
Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit punk; hope you feel better soon!

We had a very nice day ~ it was quiet without the boys, but we had good food and fun (uninterrupted) ADULT conversations :D

The house is all put back and cleaned....tomorrow we will just be relaxing

I may look into some of our local gyms and see what they do for seniors...might find out something good. Walking around here is very hard on my knees...lots of up hill stuff.

Hi everyone...I had 2 very busy days...then could not sleep last night...hubby said I had a late afternoon nap, but my goodness, it did not feel like I slept then...LOL...

Anyway...today will be quiet...I will rest my legs, they are just screaming at me.

We honored our veterans at church yesterday...about 10 men stood up in front...all over 65; I do love my country...wish we loved God.

((((((hugs)))))

Stairs and inclines are [altogether] very tiring for me,
Coming downstairs 'backwards', is much safer [for me] than the normal manner

Memories and thank yous to all who have served their countries...men and women in all parts of the world. I watched some new coverage of D-Day this morning...saw more of what the British did early that morning to secure a bridge.
As for me...Lord strengthen me and all your children to persevere and continue to fight the good fight of faith.

Hello everyone. Hope all are well. Sorry to hear about aches and pains, I am praying. My sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with MS. Losing the ability to walk, cross-stitch and many other activities that we so often take for granted yet, she has an amazingly positive attitude. "There are many others in worse situations" she told me the other day. God bless her and those that heed her fine example. Alan and I are doing okay physically. I fell in the shower the other day and bruised myself in several places, even got a nose bleed from the ordeal. Other than financial pressure, what with me being off work for over a year...we're really grateful for our health. I have a feeling I'll be returning to the office part-time soon. Keep us in your prayers, please!!! Love to you all. Yvie
