I am just starting to get active in this forum. I see a few familiar faces in here. I am stuck at home because of an ice storm.

I looked out my window after posting about the moose and spotted PORKY (porcupine) :D
Usually he comes around after dark, and we must shoo him away so Penny doesn't get hurt.... so this was a nice surprise
Now to get to WORK on our paint project :p :sorry:

He is very cute Gail.

Thanks Dave :)
Penny JUST missed meeting it tonight; I didn't see it in the yard, hooked her to the runner and off she went, just as I spotted it
There I was yelling at her to stop...thank God she did! but I about died :swoon:
From now on we will just put her on a leash, considering our close encounters with the skunks last year too

O my...skunks or porcupines, either one would be a bad encounter for Penney.

Hello Everyone,

It sounds like folks are busy this week. Just hearing about all that work makes me tired. ;)

Sister Gail, thanks for the information on Tom turkeys - I always wondered about that.

SMILE - thankfully it's contagious. Everyone have a great week.

A lovely photo of your porcupine Gail Sis'

dave

Good morning everyone. I guess most of you are still fast asleep in bed. Goodness me, Gail, you do have an interesting life at your house. All that wildlife in your grounds! The only kind of wildlife we have here would be foxes, badgers and squirrels and we only get fleeting glimpses of those. Today is my son's 28th birthday. The 4 of us here will celebrate with cake and apple drink and the other 2 members of our family will join us on Friday or Saturday for a meal out somewhere. This afternoon I have to do taxi service to take our youngest for a haircut and also to the supermarket to get some snacks. I might get some things as well. Other than that it will just be housework on the agenda today. Blessings to all, Gillian

I cleaned floors and did some laundry...we are just about to go out for dinner...

Good to see all of you.

We hope to finish this weekend...Monday the lastest
He is very cute Gail.
They are very funny; we have lots of stories about encounters with them over the years.

Thankfully she has avoided sprays and quills....but just by a nose (literally) :p

Hi Golden Eagles. We've had some nice spring days. I guess it is allergies that has my sinuses swollen and me feeling "out there" just enough not to feel "all here", if you know what I mean.

Tim has been hired to do landscaping for an investment firm, starting Monday. It's something and gets him out of the house. It's too far to bike, so I think a family friend is going to let him borrow a car until he can save for a clunker. I hope it all works out. I wish I could help him more than just providing a roof and meals. I am thankful to God that I can at least do that.

I always read here and enjoy keeping up with you all. God bless you every one.

It is that time of year again ~ I hope you feel better soon Marsha
Praise God for Tim's new job; God bless him

Spring has officially sprung here ~ according to 'moi' :D
The lake ice let out completely today, and tonight I heard my first chorus of Spring Peepers at the beaver pond out back

Northern Spring Peeper - YouTube

The Best Spring Peepers night sounds recording on Youtube / Staten Island, New York. - YouTube

I probably bore people, but they bring me such joy each year :sorry:
It is incredible experience to be surrounded by them when they start chirping in the hundreds

Have a blessed night everyone

You certainly live in the midst of nature. It must be glorious. Except, I could do without some of the close encounters you've posted about on here.
Not sure about those peepers. If I were accustomed to the noise, it might be relaxing.

My relatives in WV had a railroad across the street. Some trains even shook the housees. But, still today, a train is very relaxing to hear when I'm in bed. Trains are one thing I miss, just because they were part of my childhood summers.

Nature is beautiful but it also has it's concerns; we deal with it because we love it :D

The peepers are far enough away that it isn't deafening ;)
The chorus catches your ear as your drive by vernal pools and ponds.
I was blessed to be at the beaver pind one night with hubby when they began chirping; to hear each individual frog chime in brought me to tears it was so awesome (then again...that may be just me ).

I grew up with trains in my back yard also when we lived in the city; you do get used to them ....and they can be relaxing

Hubby is doing the last coat of paint on the ceilings today.
I will be putting poly on the switch plates and finishing the taping in the kitchen.
Hopefully we can do the walls this weekend

Have a nice day

God bless

We ended up getting over an inch in our last rains, and we are all giving thanks. I think that the timing was perfect for our farmers and ranchers. Thank you Lord.
