Stopping in for just a sec ~ it looks to be a busy week.
The polyurethaning is finished; tomorrow we will paint.
Have a blessed week everyone
Wildlife Alert
A MOOSE came through the property this morning; came up fast up from the lake which is opening up, went cross the neighbor's lawn
and then crossed the road over to our side property, and disappeared into the forest.
We had been smelling him recently; they smell like horses and hay
The Toms (wild turkeys) were also gobbling up a storm back there; courting their hens no doubt![]()
They are huge animals and cover a lot of ground very quickly; plus he was aware of Penny barking at himO my...where was your camera?????
I pray your painting...goes smoothly and you both have strength to finish each project. ((((((hugs))))).

ROFLOL TomHello everyone. I should be back on a more regular schedule now. It was great getting to visit with my brother. He lives in Colorado.
UM? Now why did they call male turkeys "Toms"?
Gail, it really sounds nice to get to see wildlife that close to your property.![]()
I never knew that factHow did the male turkeys become known as toms?
Answer:Benjamin Franklin named it after Thomas Jefferson when he would not allow it to be the national bird.
Hi JoyI can't imagine looking out the front window and seeing a moose or other wild animals galloping across the road, Gail. Wow! You are blessed to have those close-ups. I have no idea if they wreak havoc for you folk living there, though...?
There was a thread ages ago over in BE where the OP wanted us to answer the question: Why? I wrote a little poem for that. Here it is.....
WHY
'Why?' he asked, with a very worried face
'Is there a moose standing still outside my place?
I don't recall saying 'Come on down!' '
As he examined its antlers with a frown.
'How?' he asked, 'will I get to the store?
I'm out of bread and I need some more.'
'When?' he asked, 'will this moose deign to go?
I'm sure it will see me as the greatest of foes!
I daren't set foot outside my door
He'll charge and send me skidding on all fours!'
The day wore on and then the moose turned.
'Why?' he said, 'are my forests all burned?
Your home is solid and protects you well.
Half my home has a sign saying SELL.'
The man shook his head, 'Did I hear that aright?
'That moose was speaking' and then, in the light
Of dusk settling in, the moose leapt away
And the man stepped onto the lawn to survey
The half-stripped mountains towering so clear
And asked himself why suffering felt so near.
They are huge animals and cover a lot of ground very quickly; plus he was aware of Penny barking at him
We just have a basic (cheap) camera now, with a minimal zoom; unless they come close it will be a shoot and pray moment
Thanks for your prayers
*ETA: we are keeping our eyes peeled....Penny went bullistic just now, and we both detected the smell of moose; so it is still in the area
**I forgot ~ thanks for the prayers; things should continue to go well with the painting, but it has been rough on me at times![]()
Yep...it was hard last year for me...and I did not do much of the work...just having the house so out of order is stressing.
I have not used my nice camera in toooo long...need to get going with it again.
I miss my Minolta SLR , and getting out in nature like I used to
But I cherish all my past experiences, as well as these close encounters, and keep them in my heart
Yes, the disorder and mess is stressful...add to that the physical toll of fumes and work.
This time I must admit I stressed myself out before we even got startedand that flares my thyroid/adrenal issues, making me feel ill and fatigued. :o
The crazy part is how stressed I became trying hard NOT to be stressed![]()
I could kick my butt when I am my own worse enemy
Lord, have mercy ~ live and learn
Back to workIf nature will let me #871 (I get distracted
)
*ETA: work for the day is done...and so am I![]()
No other wildlife sightings so far today
The lake will be open by tomorrow most likely![]()
