That is so sweet of you Shirley, and greatly appreciated!

Her funeral was beautiful, and we had a wonderful time at the meal after, with all his cousins and the few aunts and Uncles who are left.

It is a sobering feeling that we are the next generation to go!
While we face it with faith and embrace each day we are blessed with joyfully, the kids are concerned and overwhelmed about it all, so we are trying to assure and prepare them for what they would have to do.

But God willing, we will still have 25-30 good years left!
Then again, one or both of us could be gone tomorrow; the mystery of life!

We plan to just relax this weekend ~ Church tonight with dinner out after; tomorrow maybe get a walk in and BBQ a light supper.

Praying for your men's safe return today; you have been in my thoughts and prayers for your protection and peace

I have tried to prepare my son for our time to leave this world too....I think it is wise to help him think about these things now, when we are all in our right minds....my mother was always afraid to discuss such things with us....that really does not help at all to face life.

I'm glad and thought your family would be together...

I did sort of have a little melt down this morning...I am ready to see hubby...it will be late tonight. My dear friend Lori called at the perfect time and we prayed over the phone together.

I have spoken to many neighbors and am shocked to learn how much crime and pilfering has been going on in the neighborhood this summer...we are all cranking up a notch about security.

The Lord is merciful even in these things

I needed to get some work done in this computer... to keep it up and running
I will clean out the desktop tomorrow... to see if I can avoid reformatting

It is Sunday 8.26 here...my guys got in about midnight, we talked for a couple hours, then went to bed....hubby and I talked more...so sleep will be on our ajenda later....but we have had our son here, he is about to leave for his home. I cooked a nice breakfast and saw some of his pictures in his small camera. Alaska is breathtakingly beautiful....can't describe it...but will eventually have access to his photos online so I will share some of them. more later

Hi everyone

We are having a lovely, relaxing day here (wonderful after such a hectic week)

The past couple days I have had some wild life experiences ~

1) We have a family of skunks that have been visiting; the 6 babies are adorable!
They are very playful and inquisitive, and they SQUEAK as they tumble with one another .
Penny met one last night ....their noses just INCHES from one another; thankfully the baby skunk was too shocked to react ROFLOL
It happened when I went to put Penny out (on a leash because of the wildlife); when she suddenly stopped (mid pee) and ran behind our BBQ grill which is on the lawn right off the back porch.
When I bent over to see what she was after behind the grill.....there it was... thankfully FACE TO FACE with her (and not REAR to face as they can spray at that age).
I whipped her out of there and up the stairs so fast, I don't think her feet touched the stairs
The baby was so scared, it ran into our fire pit and hid under the grate ROFLOL!
On our last trip out for the night, the baby came out of hiding and was prepared to stand it's ground with us (busy lapping up some grease that must have spilled on the grass from the grill drip pan), so we kept a respectable distance as Penny did her business, then went to bed.

2) This morning I moved my potted plants from the garden to my front stairs, only to find a Northern Ring Neck Snake like this one (see thumbnail)

3) In the evenings we have been treated to a wonderful (loud) chorus of crickets, with occasional tree frogs chiming in.

Never a dull moment here I LOVE it !!

Gail, my nephew heard something under his deck, stomped his fet (I guess to scare it away). It was a skunk; it spray stunk up the whole house.

I haven't seen skunks, but groundhogs and racoons are plentiful in my neighborhood, as are stray cats and tree rats (squirrels).

We had one stink up the house and car when raccoon invaded his space beneath our bird feeder one year
Since then the BEARS have necessitated the removal of our feeders, so they come to get lunch 'a la lawn' (worms, grubs, ants etc)

In New England (on a lake); we have black bears...pretty woodsy and wild here for sure
