Speaking of sharing personal things....it is common for us as Christians to be tempted to gossip under the pretense of asking specifics for prayer. When I was diagnosed with depression, I didn't attend church for months for ffear that someone would ask me was I had wrong with me. Some people are insistent even when you say "it's personal" but most will back off with that phrase.
I finally managed to face my fears and led the morning worship service with Alan this past Sunday. I simple said (from the pulpit) that I appreciate their continued prayers for a personal illness and the recovery is ongoing...no one pushed for more. It's good to be back in the house of the Lord with the family of God.
