• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, Tarshie. I am a chinese, but not from China, though. I am born... :) and live in Singapore. Brother Yun had come to my country to preach before and he had also prayed for me. He is a humble man of God, sincere and on fire for God. You can see his love for God and china from the message in which he preached, and the prayers in which he prayed for the chinese people in Singapore.

Example: A few believer in Singapore came to request prayer for some material thing.
Brother Yun's response: He prays for the believers to be more on fire for God, instead and he asks the believers to pray on their knees.

What a humble man of God. Someone who is used to praying on the knee. I do not think that such a man is likely to lie in his book, The heavenly Man. :)

Secondly, I think what drives your confusion is really about two types of churches that are ongoing in China, now.

Firstly, there is the house churches of China. These are the underground churches. They often preach uncensored messages of Jesus in homes of fellow believers. They remain as house churches because of their distrust of the government, due to the many years of persecutions christians had received from the chinese government. I had a friend, who had a pastor, who used to sneak into a house church of China to preach.

There is the official, state-sanctioned churches in China. These are churches that are allowed by the government. They believe in Jesus, have access to the bible, and can do many things in China, but there are certain restrictions set to their sharing of faith. They cannot preach to people under 21 years old, and they cannot preach about the last book of the bible. Revelation. Other than that, they are really like any normal christian churches. These are what is meant by the un-persecuted churches in China. I had met a chinese christian online friend from these churches, and had the opportunities to fellowship on a few occassions online in a chinese christian forum with some of these chinese believers.

In other words, chinese christians can either be persecuted or not persecuted. It really depends on whether they are from the underground house churches or the state-sanctioned churches. The house churches are persecuted, the state-sanctioned churches are not. The house churches share their faith with no limitation and no accountabilities to the government, the state-sanctioned churches are free to worship God in many manners but when they want to do certain activities like evangelism, etc, they must seek the government in China for permit, etc.

It is good that you will want to help the believers in China. It is good that you share a burden for them. As a chinese, even though I live in Singapore and am born in Singapore, I am grateful to you on behalf of the chinese. I love and dream and want to go back to China and die there, bringing the gospels to the root where I come from, but alas, the Lord had not called me to China, but had called me to stay and ministered to the people in Singapore, to my own country people.

But my heart is always for the chinese christians, because my ancestors came from China.

People I am concerned for:
Israel Jews-- people of the Lord
China chinese-- the people of my ancestry
USA christians-- many people here had blessed me tremendously, and also, thanks to your christian resources, I get to grow
Singapore christians-- my home, the place where I am born. Oh Jesus, Jesus, come to Singapore. Come and touch, come and save the place where I am born. Be the lion of Singapore! Hallelujah
The World-- May all people worship and praise the Lord!!!!

Tashi I think it is wonderful to have such a heart for the wonderful people of China.....I to really love the people of that nation...and indeed of all the nations of SE Asia....

But one thing should be noted...their is real persecution of True Christians in Red China....it does vary from place to place and from time to time....I don't think their is anything like it was under Mao Tse Sung but it can still be bad....you should probably visit voice of the martyrs and their wonderful website that is dedicated to persecuted Christians around the world....

I am excited for you and I am excited for the people of China....the growth of the Church there has been wonderful...but not without cost.......

Bless you!!!

Just a testimony from a friend & helper.
(I've just got back from 6 weeks in China. Kunming, Beijing, Lijiang & Dali. )
------------------------------
Xoix Xou ( Little Snow)
Ma,
Daily fights the earth,
To gain a meal,
From a kitchen,
That all pests have left.

Pa,
Her wariness, blind,
Seeks denial,
Drink in hand
Through tobacco’s haze.

She,
Unfulfilled dreams.
Looks for change,
The neon’s calll
Unrealistically.

The dull & dank
Chill’s not just external.
The room drains hope,
She prays.

He answers,
She phones.
Hearts touch,
Hope revives,
Christ lives.

View from the Balcony, (China sound bites.)

'' Honk, Honk, nudge, nudge''
The city says, as dust settles behind
The wheels of the many transporters.
The westerner learns the ebb & flow ,
& moves to counter the moment of impact.

At our gate the guard smiles,
As he continues his shift,
From dawn till dark it seems.
The uniform pleases him & secures our peace.

Serenity in the early day's
Physical exercises brings a smile
To those who have no time or tradition
To comply. Envy!.

The train dislikes his night time duties
And tells all;
Who strain for sleep
Awake!. AWAKE !

Beijing Hutongs

Gray dust
Over all the piles.
Food waste, snow,
Bikes & barrows.
No flies or smell !.

Wind chills'
No deterrent to sellers
Or window gazers.
The tourist shivers
Alienated by culture.

Shoes happily shine
Smiles warm,
The barterers laugh.
Do half hidden homes
Reflect the same?

CHINA
Positives Negatives

Weather Dry with low humidity. Very dry noses in morning(bloody)
Good food. Plenty of choice. Some too spicy/hot.
Big beds. Too hard.
Children. -- They speak Chinese.
People friendly mostly. Hawkers & touts.
Cheap. Too easy to spend money.
Quick drying clothes. Wearing thermals in doors.
No perspiration. Dusty every thing.
Ease of transport. Traffic & road sense.
Modern stores & goods. Electric scooters & bikes.
Spitting.
Toilets.
Over used cooking fat & toilet smells.
Power cuts. ( 11th. floor)
Poor news coverage.
Cold droughts in restaurants.
Can drink or even wash your mouth with the water from the tap.

Common oddities

On bikes two or three wheels-- settee & two arm chairs.
10 or more 18lt water bottles.
6''x 1'' sheet of glass. Resting on one foot.
Child standing on rear carrier.
Fire for cooking candy floss or other food stuffs.
Very irritating beggars or hawkers coming in to a dining area ( one dripped tears on the table cloth)
Ladies on haunches picking up individual leaves in a condominium. Rat poison seeds on the pebbles over the drain holes in the condominium.
Lady living & sleeping in the other half of one of the smelliest loos.
20+ yr. Old men with pink fluffy ear muffs.
The streets--Pony carts, traction lorries. Road sweepers anywhere country or town using twig brooms, even in the middle of the traffic. Traffic patrol men with whistles & flags to control the cyclists & pedestrians at junctions. Cyclist riding towards the taxi your sitting in. No centre point at junctions to guide you for turning. Badminton shuttlecock being knocked to & fro any time of day or night. Working on pieces of tin or other metals, cutting rubber to recycle, mending bikes or anything else. At the road side there might be sausages, meat or clothes hanging to dry. Or large trays of seed type or dried foods laid out.
Gate keepers living in a 6'' x 10'' room.
In lock-up shop--Children doing their home work in the back of a lockup shop, with all their 4/5 layers on to keep warm. Bowl fires with people squatting round. A family cooking & eating their meals. (the smell of cooking food does not gel when your in a clothes shop.) Even in OoC with wind chill added, people cooking or waiting for custom in the open.

In the local parks--Minority dancing, people practicing the traditional instruments or singing some ''jamming'' with them. Playing cards, croqueting slippers or knitting hats. Roller Blade lessons, for 3yrs up ward.
Uniforms never seem to fit the males but do the ladies a power of good.
Pekinese's dogs in many places.

Food stops.-- Anyones order can come at any time & in any order. Nearly always good (the ex-pats know a thing or two. Many high lights. Only one disaster, a Tibetan restaurant recommended by an American.

All the pleasure spent. I managed to return.
I plunged deep among water lilies(荷花) my sculls.
I struggled and struggled out of the tangle.
I thus alarmed a beach of herons and gulls.

You have emphasized the water lilies in the poem, I was wondering if they have some special significance?

Ha. not very significant meanings for this beautiful but pure flower growing in mud. Just a Chinese(中文) expression with it.

I don't know what your belief/teaching is in the spiritual gifts are but when I was part of a ministry team blessing the Chinese church in Vancouver, I felt God say to me, “They have the heart of David but as for David, it is not for them to build His temple because He wants them to become water lilies.” As with many things God tells me, my usually response is “What,” that' s why I was curious. I don't know if that is a word only for the Chinese Church in Vancouver or for the entire branch of the Chinese Church altogether.

God Bless!

I have an interesting theory - for all ideologies and religions...once persecution stops, faith becomes impure.
Recently I watched a concert on TV that praises Great Britain. The word that “God has made you so Strong” impressed me much. I personally also thank God has made Anglo Race so strong but not Chinese Race, for the sake of the Justice and Peace of the whole world. Yeah Chinese has experienced much more suffering but we still have not learnt what the Justice and Peace is enough.

And another song named “Jerusalem” means new Jerusalem has been built in Great Britain. That is a complex theological problem concerning the right of firstborn of God. Ha, if I were in the present of that concert, I would wave both Israeli and England national flags.

Blessings, Yusuph

Ha. Maybe Water lily can be looked as a symbol of the good side of Chinese moral. In fact no many Chinese Christians have enough courage and wisdom to support the One Holy Temple of the whole world. Wang Ming Dao (王明道) and Yuan Xiang Chen (袁相忱) etc. are famous leaders of modern Chinese Church.

And do you mean mostly Semitic or Occident are playing the role of supporting the Holy Temple?

I think the contrary. I think the Chinese race (not the right word, because that would be bordering on being eugenic and perhaps even racist; maybe 'culture' is a better word) is so strong that it closes itself to other cultures, which is why the concepts of democracy and freedom and whatnot are taking so long to take root.

And another song named “Jerusalem” means new Jerusalem has been built in Great Britain. That is a complex theological problem concerning the right of firstborn of God. Ha, if I were in the present of that concert, I would wave both Israeli and England national flags.

New Jerusalem in Great Britain? More like New Babylon being in Great Britain. Britain is a on a huge moral downward slide - well, like every other country in the Western world.

I have no idea. I have no desire to add or takeaway from what I hear. For instance, I was praying for one of my brothers in church on night and I felt God say “Tell him I like him.” My mind when instantly to work thinking “Don't you mean that you love him,” Lord but I gave the word as I heard it. He later came back to me and told me that as a Christian he was called to love even the unlovable but those people he “liked” where the ones he wanted to really fellowship with. So for God to say that he “liked” him (as apposed to love) had a even greater meaning for him.

The Lord knows!:amen:

God Bless!

Interesting discussions here!
Thanks for those who care so much for the Spirituality of Chinese people and pray for the Christian churches there so diligently!
Thanks for the chinese people who pray for other nations, as well. :)
