Hope you don't consider me religious in a negative way, but I would like to ask your opinion on something that happened today.

I am an American but for the last 3 years I have been living in an emerging communist country. There are a few of us foreign Christian who get together on Sundays. Today I hosted because I thought only 3 or 4 of us would be there, but ended up with 12.

The other day I met a guitar playing German bum on the street and invited him to play in the cafe I manage during 'afternoon tea. So today he shows up about 30 minutes before the fellowship so I fed him and asked him if he could play Christian music. He asked if it was the same as 'sacrificing cats for good luck'. I said we don't do that, but we sing.

I gave him the copied pages out of an old hymnal that I planned on us singing and he messed around with it a bit and then joined us upstairs after everyone had arrived. He couldn't follow us at all, but that was ok.

I lead the group and wanted to discuss putting on the 'mature clothing' of a Christian. I got to talking about divine healing and since it was a discussion it was cool when he asked, if I had prayed to Buddha. He was serious.

Beyond the obvious no, how would you have answered his sincere question without taking the entire discussion off course?

It caught me off guard too. So I just mentioned the Creator God. But I noticed after the service when everyone was eating (I provided dinner for them) that he sat upstairs talking to a German man and wife for quite awhile. So it is probably good that He got a more complete answer in his native language.

When I shared with the native cafe staff that I would be paying for the Christian's meal, The young man shared with me that frequently in the village after church they kill a dog and have a meal together.

A bad day for domestic pets.

Since you were speaking about healing.

If he was serious and prays to buddha, issue him a friendly challenge.

Since, we are praying for God to heal, lets do this.

You pray to Buddha for a person to be healed and I will in Jesus Name speak healing to a person and we will see who is God.

Sorry if this is considered off topic.

Hi all,

I'll have to come back to this thread later, my two golden retriever dogs are in here with me and they seem a little nervous, after all, it's Sunday here and I've already been to church :D

I only have one golden now she is 11. Our other one got cancer and had to be put down at age 15+ as she was suffering. We still miss her they are wonderful dogs. I was busy all afternoon and couldn't get back here to connect so suppose everyone is in bed asleep now. That is where I intend being in about 4 minutes :) gg

Sounds like fun. I like the east coast of Canada in the Maritimes not sure if it is similar maybe more rugged in Canada. My hubby was watching waves on a rock outcropping at Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia and just as he climbed back up onto the bank a big wave caught and washed the lower rock clean. If he had still been on it he wouldve been in the ocean. This was is 1974. I think they probably have fences now.
