It all started with this quote from Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-a's President:
Now there are calls for boycotts, some folks are protesting, two mayors are coming out against the company. Here's Boston's mayor:
And in Chicago:
But what if it was:
More tolerance found within the ACLU:
Chick-fil-a and the Irony of the Tolerance Police | Denny BurkWe are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. We operate as a family business … our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that. We intend to stay the course. We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.
Now there are calls for boycotts, some folks are protesting, two mayors are coming out against the company. Here's Boston's mayor:
Mayor Menino on Chick-fil-A: Stuff it - BostonHerald.comMumbles said:“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion,” Menino told the Herald yesterday.
“That’s the Freedom Trail. That’s where it all started right here. And we’re not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.
...
“If they need licenses in the city, it will be very difficult — unless they open up their policies,” he warned
And in Chicago:
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Scores An Ethics Alarms Hat Trick: “Ethics Dunce,” “Incompetent Elected Official of the Month,” and “Unethical Quote of the Week” | Ethics AlarmsChick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members, and if you’re going to be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect the Chicago values
But what if it was:
Chick-fil-A: (In)tolerance | Richmond Times-Dispatch"Islam's values are not Chicago's values."
"Islam doesn't belong in Boston."
If any elected official had made comments such as those, he would have been ridden out of town on a rail — especially if he happened to be a conservative Republican. Yet two big-city mayors have said the functional equivalent, and so far their remarks have elicited only a bit of tut-tutting.
More tolerance found within the ACLU:
ACLU official wants Chick-fil-A supporters to gorge on transfats | The Daily CallerI encourage all bigots to load up on transfats and carbohydrates. Go ahead — eat your heart out on the “Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit” breakfast! Mmmm.”
So what does tolerance really mean to the left? Is it toleration of all ideas and points of view or is it tolerance of ideas and points of view that agree with theirs only?
This is just one example of why I think most liberals are hypocrites.
