  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One thing that following alot of computer chess has taught me, it has actually allowed me to let go of castling early. Yes, it can really work, even though it goes against the ancient wisdom that castling early is important. It turns out, this is not always the case.

I finally beat my dad a few years ago at a game, my playing level is probably around 1400 or so.

My favorite chess program to use is Chessmaster, even though the engine is not so powerful as it once was, even with multiple cores, it doesn't have as much chess knowledge.

That's good to know. Thanks.

And congrats!! :D

Because otherwise you cannot win. You must administer "Checkmate" in order to win. If not, it is a tie. The computer is not cheating, but you are trying to play by your own rules instead of the rules of chess.

Not to be pedantic but you can also win on time or by forfeit. :p
