  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not sure what to say. Sometimes following the Spirit means keeping my mouth shut. Still listening for God's voice on what to say, if anything.
This is the day....I never thought would come:D

I'm speechless at your speechlessness:D

From my experience it sounds like one of a few things. The top two that come to mind are they are trying to keep him there for the mandated Medicare days to kick in. Once they do, and if he continues to meet eligibility requirements, he will be sent to rehab. But Medicare states you must first have a "qualifying" three day hospital stay.

After that they will probably request the family to pick a "skilled" nursing home. From there he'll probably be evaluated for physical and occupational therapy, more for fall prevention, and see him daily to rebuild and strengthen what he has. The length of time they keep him will vary depending on several circumstances. But the nice thing is they should also evaluate him for his "activities of daily living"-- simple things such as motor and coordination skills. And if they can, they will help to rebuild and strengthen those to.

And if he's not a Medicare recipient, rather a HMO carrier, they too will stipulate number of days in a hospital just like Medicare.

So honestly, I think they are doing what they can to keep him there for a needed stay in order to qualify for rehab.

They should be talking to your family today though to give an idea of their goal. If you've never been down the nursing home or skilled nursing facility road before, please pm me before placing him anywhere.

Will definitely pray! And congrats on the new post count!

Honestly I have mixed feelings about posting "I agree with the others". There's already some great responses and questions by other members. And once I find a tactful means to post an area brought to my attention I will.

Cristianna,

Thank you so much for this information. I had not even thought of that. Although, I think he's just been such a handful I doubt that has cross their minds, but you never know.

I can't believe he's been sedated again. They're calling it twilight sleep. Not quite a coma since he's semi-aware of what's going on. His tongue and throat are still swollen and they're giving him steroids. Once that's stabilized they plan to bring him out of it.

My mother is a retired RN and worked at a nursing home for 35 years. It's very close to their home so maybe he will end up there. I think it's one of the top nursing homes in the country.

Thanks for the info though. Very helpful. Are you a nurse or something? :)

Thanks all for the prayers. Please don't stop!

Hi everyone,
Jill, still praying for your father and your family.

Pete, As I do not know much about being a mod I will simply pray for you and the changes in the CF forum.

P.S. I do enjoy a blonde joke now and then . . . :sorry:

Didn't you know there are no dumb blondes. It's the bleached brunettes who give us a bad name!

Blessings to everyone xx

Well folk, I want to thank you for your advice on my quandary recently and to tell you of my decision in the matter.

I have, after much discussion and research decided that rather than fight this UY appointment I will take a Leave of Absence from Staff (my bosses idea to compromise!) and consequently I will now find myself with much more time to keep up with what is happening in here!

It is an ill wind .... so they say!

I have posted more in my blog if you want to see the details and my reasoning. I have to say I am really saddened by this turn of events but I am sure that God has a plan! I just wish He would show me a little more of what it is He is doing here!

Any way I just wanted to thank you for your advice support and prayers and to let you know that you may have to put up with this grumpy old Englishman again in this thread!

Pete

It is a definite case of being Unequally Yoked to an Unbeliever!
Yes.

I can not allow her election to go unchallenged
I admire your integrity. You have, in fact, challenged it by your decision to step back. I think, in the end, this decision will lead you to more peace than if you had not taken action.

I will now find myself with much more time to keep up with what is happening in here!...

...you know that you may have to put up with this grumpy old Englishman again in this thread!

Jenny and Cory,

I'm going to try to explain how I post pictures. Kay taught me long ago. I hope I can be clear...

Type any text you want to include.

Before you submit, scroll down to "Manage Attachments."

Browse and select a picture or pictures from your computer.

Click on "Upload."

Wait until it finishes (note the message telling you to wait). This may take a few minutes.

Close the upload window if it doesn't close automatically.

Copy the entire post to your clipboard in case CF is having problems.

Preview the post. If it works, you will be able to see the pictures in your preview.

Submit.

Now, having said all that, I just tried that and I couldn't get it to work. I have done this in the past, and I think I used the above procedure. CF might be having problems, or I might have left out a step. But I'll post this anyway because it might be easier for someone to correct my procedure rather than start from scratch. And perhaps the procedure is correct and CF is having a glitch.

Okay, now I'll try to explain another way using photobucket. If I am not mistaken, in order to send pictures by pm, we MUST use an account such as photobucket. I do not think there is a way to attach pictures from our computer to a pm.

Add a picture or pictures to your photobucket account. Copy the img file to your clipboard. In my account, the img file is the last of the four options below the picture.

Paste the img file into the message area of your CF post.

DSCN0185.jpg

Again, I recommend then copying the entire message to your clipboard.

(CF just logged me out as I previewed... but because I had just saved the message, I was able to recover it.)

If it appears normal, i.e., you can see the picture, then post.

Note: sometimes if I bring up my picture files in my computer, and I open pictures, this will completely close my CF account. If I'm not sure what pictures I want to send, it's better to look at the pictures first, write down the file name of the ones I want, and then open CF and complete the procedure WITHOUT opening any picture files in my computer.

Jenny, I'm not sure why your procedure didn't work, and I'm not sure why my first procedure didn't work. I have added pictures both ways before. Perhaps CF is having a glitch, or perhaps I left a step out.

So, are we going to see some pictures from you?

Can I ask you guys to go to this poll and vote please?

http://www.christianforums.com/t5793451-who-should-be-moderators.html

The way it is shaping up in there we will soon be staffed by as many Pantheist, Wiccan and Atheists as Christians.

Please let your voice be heard! Before it is too late for CF
Sorry Pete, but I am wearing down. I am not sure how much more division I can take around here.

CF uniting all Christians as one body  is more like uniting all people. I can get that at any other forum.

Yeah, it logs me off whenever I try to vote. I guess that's one way to keep the vote count down.
