CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi All,
Sorry for the absence. It's been up and down for the last few days with my Dad. I didn't want to clog up the check-in thread with my prayer request, so I made a separate thread and also posted in the Prayer Request thread.
Thank you all for your concern and prayers. The good news is that he doesn't have any fresh bleeding on the brain (took 4 CT scans to find this out). The bleeding that is there seems to be old from a minor stroke he had a few yrs ago.
Unfortunately, since he's uncooperative and won't stay in bed, they have restrained him and he's still in ICU. They have induced a coma 3 times now and we're all getting frustrated. They gave him a sedative last night so he would sleep, but he ended up having anaphylactic shock and getting epinephrine. They then induced his second coma. This morning they brought him out of the coma and he was doing better. But then this afternoon he was gasping for air so they had to put him back in a coma and on a ventilator. Honestly, I don't get it. The guy just has 3 fractured ribs at this point. I wish they would leave him alone or send him to rehab. They seem to be doing more damage than good.
Please continue your prayers for him and my Mom.

Regarding your dilemma Pete, I see both sides. I think if you can try and use it to witness to this NC, that would be ideal. However, if it ends up being a battle, I would bow out of it. What a terrible position to be put in.
Pep, I don't know how I missed that whole thing, but you have my support!
Annette - you had me rolling with laughter at this. What a great sense of humor you have, even though I know you aren't kidding. God made us all different, eh?

On a final serious note, please pray that I can be a good support to my Mom. My sister lives over an hour away and my brother has a high-pressured job and commutes back and forth to Atlanta on the weekends to see his wife.

The guy asked for it. It's a liberal I go around with quite often. He's never liked me since I listed as my occupation as: "arguing with liberals."
Anyway, he was bragging about his ACLU bumper sticker. And his sig: "American Civil Liberties Union: 'Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself'" 
So he walked right into it. It couldn't have been more perfect.

Start with "Anti-Christian" and fill in the last two words... "Liberties Union" would be easy to remember. If it says "Anti-Christian" I think it's accurate, IMO.
