Thanks for the thought. I wouldn't mind being a moderator in UY only, but I don't think that's how it works. I think mods are assigned broad areas and expected to contribute to more than one subforum. I'm really not interested in mod duties in other forums. After all, UY is the only important forum there is, isn't it?I think Wayne should apply to be a mod.

We already had this discussion several weeks ago, in Check-in Thread 5. I made many of the same points that have been made here, and got zero backup. At the time I assumed that was because:Thinking about the appearance issue I was talking about last week isn't it horrible how the world judges by appearance? We are all God's children and yet we often stereotype before we get to know people. It is good to know God looks at the heart![]()
We already had this discussion several weeks ago, in Check-in Thread 5. I made many of the same points that have been made here, and got zero backup. At the time I assumed that was because:
1) I was doing a pretty good job defending my position on my own, or
2) No one supported my opinion.
I decided, at that time, on the second option. Imagine my surprise just now, to log in and find some consensus after all.
Going back to what brought that up this time--in reality, it's more of a gender issue than an appearance issue. It was more of a frustration that females are generally not allowed to have an opinion on matters such as U.S. foreign policy, national security, congressional issues, firearms . . . and the like.
I've posted about this on discussion boards, including the ones in the debate section here at UY. When I first started posting here at CF, I did not have a character or a gender icon, or a picture. Not one person ever assumed me to be female, until I revealed it. Similarly, I post sporadically on a community message board, which doesn't have icons detailing gender, etc. Again, no one has ever assumed me to be female. Even after all this time, they still don't. In fact, I am routinely told such things as, "go refill your Viagra." It probably hasn't helped that I recently expressed a desire to volunteer to go over to Afghanistan to find that sub-human scum Osama bin Laden myself (because everyone knows that a woman, and a mother to boot, would never support something like that. They would certainly never volunteer for the military. But don't tell that to all our brave women serving in that cesspool known as Iraq). If the U.S. government wants to take me up on my offer, I simply request they give me a weapon and point me in the right direction. I'll personally find bin Laden's sorry . . . self.
I'm not necessarily annoyed by this, the fact that women can't have opinions about "man" things. In fact, I think it's rather amusing that people assume a female can't have an intelligent opinion on the evils of the ACLU, for example.
It's Wayne's fault. When he said, "feel free to weigh in on the firearms issue as long as you change your gender icon . . . " well . . . that got a major eye-roll out of me. But it's not his fault. He's just the messenger reporting the facts, and I'm not going to shoot the messenger . . . particularly when he's armed.
Conclusion: most women aren't a freak of nature like I am.
Carry on.
well duh! of course you were right before and on target now. I didn't comment 'cause you don't need help defending your position. We already had this discussion several weeks ago, in Check-in Thread 5. I have excess testosterone myself. I sang tenor in our church cantata and I have more chin hairs than some men I know. I busted out laughing. Then as I read more, I thought perhaps you were serious. So just in case you were serious, let me explain. I said heres a thread if anyone wants to argue. Of course, you ladies will need to create another account as a male to do it I said that tongue-in-cheek because the thread is in the Male Forum, where females cannot post, just as males cannot post in the Womens Forum. (I say tongue-in-cheek because its probably against the rules to impersonate another gender, and I shouldnt advocate something that is against the rules.) If you thought I meant that ladies are not allowed to have an opinion on that or any subject, you badly misinterpreted my post. It's Wayne's fault.
Says who? Those on the community message board you frequent? Pagans and sinners living by the worlds standards, maybe, but not in the Christian community as I know it, and certainly not here in UY. Maybe you should take your wrath out on those in the community message board. Oh, you probably do. Good. They probably deserve it.It was more of a frustration that females are generally not allowed to have an opinion on matters such as U.S. foreign policy, national security, congressional issues, firearms . . . and the like.
Liar.I'm not necessarily annoyed by this
Ive got enough for both of us do you have a good map?I simply request they give me a weapon and point me in the right direction.
Whats wrong with the Anti-Christian League of the Uninformed?the evils of the ACLU
So if Im unarmed Im in danger?I'm not going to shoot the messenger . . . particularly when he's armed.
Then we need more freaks. Seriously. Conclusion: most women aren't a freak of nature like I am.
Pete,Help!!!
People I am struggling BIG TIME right now with the CF reforms. I know this is not the forum for that discussion, but you folks are my longest standing friends on this site and I need to get strength from somewhere right now.
You will all have heard that we are to be more inclusive and allow Non Christians to access all parts of the site. This clearly includes the possibility of NCs joining Staff (indeed Erwin even suggested that this may happen).
Well it has now happened in the Ministry team!!
We have a Non Christian Mod.
I do not know this person personally and I did not get a chance to vote on the application as I was not aware that it was being processed. How ever I am now in the invidious situation of being asked to act as a SuperMod on a team where the Staff do not all share my faith.
It is a definite case of being Unequally Yoked to an Unbeliever!
How do I deal with this folks?
All advice welcome.

Point taken. I won't discuss that here anymore. I realize it belongs in the debate forums. Guess I forgot where I was.Maybe you should take your wrath out on those in the community message board.
I do get carried away sometimes. I apologize. No, I'm directionally challenged.Ive got enough for both of us do you have a good map?
That's a good one. I might use that in the debate forums sometime if you don't mind.Whats wrong with the Anti-Christian League of the Uninformed?
Shoot, us married women get that. Well, I do anyway. More people assume I am unmarried than married. Not an exaggeration. And the ones that I tell I am married often don't believe me. You know, kindof like the fictitious boyfriend everyone hears about but never sees . . .. . . Fast forward two years later and she's making funeral plans for her husband who's life ended suddenly and tragically.
If she wears her ring people (strangers, running into old friends) comment or inquire about her husband, and if she doesn't wear her ring people assume she's an unwed mother with some bold enough to ask if the father is "involved".

Regarding stereotyping, I think we all do it whether we admit to it or not. I think there are many of us who do it with no malicious intentions though. A prime example is a good friend of mine a handful of years younger than I am. She married her boyfriend, went to Jamaica for their honeymoon and returned with the best souvenier possible! Fast forward two years later and she's making funeral plans for her husband who's life ended suddenly and tragically.
