  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have you considered what to do if he isn't satisfied with you walking away, and follows you?
Ha! I would pay good money to see this!

This won't happen, because:
1) It would require him to acknowledge I exist
2) It would require him to pretend he gives a rip about the relationship
3) It would expose him to a point of view other than his, which MIGHT ACTUALLY BE VALID!! *gasp!*

It's important to note that he doesn't say anything to me. He will sometimes talk at me . . . when he is accusing me of something, that is. And he will make loud, general references to "someone" and "anyone" and "no one." Part of his passive-agressive nature.

It's a blast.

Wayne and Pepper, please do not feel that I am criticising you for your views of guns, I love you both and would rather agree to differ on this matter than descend in to an ungracious spat over it.
Of course not. I completely respect your opinion.

The only thing that ever frustrates me is the notion that this is a "men's issue." Once in a while this subject will appear in E & M for debate, but by and large it will only be seen in the men's forum. As if women are too ignorant and stupid and airheaded to have an opinion on this and are only good for cooking, cleaning and spreading their legs. Well, apparently that's true, as I have yet to find anyone supportive of my desire to go this route.

On a separate subject, no I am not running for president. ^_^ Hillary doesn't want to debate me. Trust me on that one.

What's that I see at the top of this thread? Barack Obama '08?!

Where's that report button?

I meant to click on "Go Advanced" not "post quick reply" I have much more to say as usual.
Pepper, I know what it is like to try to have a conversation with iles about something deeper that what he would like for dinner to have him suddenly walk away or interupt to tell me about the latest model of car etc. It makes me feel I am worthless to him. I also hate the message it gioves to our children. I have no answers, but I am still praying for our Husbands.
I have to say I agree with Pete on the gun debate, but I think there is no reason why a woman cannot have an intellegent, considered opinion on this or any other issue. If you feel people do not want to listen when you talk about serious subjects because you are a woman, try being 5' tall and blonde like me! Men and women just assume you are dumb. Well, I have to admit to being just abit dizzy:tutu: :tutu:

Praying for everyone

Matthew 7:26
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

I have to say I don't care what you look like, I think you are intelligent, witty and wise!

And no she didn't pay me to say that!!!

Seriously, what has appearance got to do with wisdom or common sense?

All those things come from our Lord and I know a lot of dumb, dark haired, tall guys!

Jennie I am shocked I didn't realize you were blonde AND short I guess I will have to disregard everything you say now.;) Of course you have plenty to add to our discussions and I value your input even if you are wrong on gun control.:D

I would appreciate a few prayers from all of you I am traveling to the Oregon coast this weekend to a family reunion with my in laws the family is hard core new age,and some anti-Christian. Please pray that God would open a door for me to witness to one, some, or all of them. That he would go before me and prepare the way and that the Spirit would give me the perfect words in his perfect timing. the right heart changed in this group could be the first of many dominoes.
Thanks,
cory

Hahahah! That describes me down to a tee!

Oooh, and it is good to have everyone around again - I know I took a break cus things were just so HECTIC! Our tour to Belgium was amazing and the kids loved it. I havent found my clarinet.... the one thing that keeps me going is I know that God can see it somewhere!

I'm off to New Wine Week A Pete! Grrrrrrr! I'm on the youth team - and I really can't wait to get involved.... I'd much rather be involved in the excitement rather than sit back and see it all! But than again... not being on team has it's benefits too but I'm one of those people who really like being part of something and really experiencing God at work when doing it!

Please pray for me though, I'm driving a friends car there as me and Pete only drive one.... eco/budget friendly us two! We aim to only have one car for as long as we can! Lets see how long that lasts! lol

Love, hugs and prayers

Not that we would know what you look like, since you've NEVER shown us a picture. ;)

Cory, praying for your trip, for wisdom, opportunity, and safety on those Oregon roads.

Erica, praying for your trip also, for a refreshing time, and safety.

Wow, the fingers have been flying fast here lately (on the keyboards of course!;) ) I can't keep up!

From Check-in Thread (5):

So you are not near Cheshire, where the woman and her two kids were killed in the home invasion this week? The news reports say it was a "nice neighborhood."

Cheshire is about 45 minutes away from here. It's a town of about 29,000 and is a suburb of New Haven. Yes, it's a nice community, not as affluent as my area but still way above average. This whole scenario is heartbreaking to say the least. If it can happen in Cheshire, it can happen anywhere.

Connecticut's laws are pathetic against criminals. I'm surprised we even have the death penalty. It's a very liberal state, wasteful and poorly managed. I would love to move, but I've lived here all my life.

RE: Guns, I think they are a necessary evil. I totally respect Pete's opinions. I did not grow up around guns and actually hate them. However, in this country, there are more guns than people and many of the criminals are armed. Even though I don't think I could ever shoot someone, even in self-defense, I don't have a problem with people owning them for protection. Sadly, it would be difficult or near impossible to get rid of them in the US. :sigh:

Yet, the notion that everyone is going to come to God at some point is false. In fact, the exact opposite is true, Jesus specifically said: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14 (KJV). That’s not to say we shouldn’t be praying. We should. God does answer prayer, after all. But I’ve prepared myself for possibility of the answer being “no.”

True, the path to salvation is narrow. One thing I heard someone say a while back (not here) was that they had to be willing to love and trust God, even if it means their loved one(s) never found Christ.

From AbidingInHim:

Jill,

RE corporate prayer.

I thought corporate prayer was strange when I was first saved. But as I grew in the Holy Spirit I would feel the Spirit leading me to pray as well. I resisted. But I suddenly realized one day that I needed to make myself obey Him. I began opting to pray every time I was in a situation to have corporate prayer. I found the more I forced myself to do it the more cofortable I became with it. Now I thrive in corporate prayer situations, and get soooo lost in prayer I'm totally unaware of others around me.

Thank you, I needed to hear that! I'm sure once I do it the first time, I'll love it and want to do it all the time. It's just that first hurdle I can't seem to get over.

I know how you feel about a missed chance for witnessing though, I believe as believers in Christ we have all lots opportunities to be a light for others. The only thing that comes to my mind is to pray for another opportunity and practice practice practice between now and when God provides you with that opportunity.

Yes, I need to pray for more opportunities and for God to prepare me. Thanks.

I think it's really weird that they would tell you you were praying wrong, I mean really that's just rude. But if they want you to do the little cross first, I wouldn't see that as a big deal. I now it's leading down the path to works and deeds and symbolism but really, I just wouldn't let it mean too much.

They haven't done it to me, but I have seen them correct others. When they pray, it's so uncomfortable for me. There is no connection with God, they interrupt one another and tell each other "you forgot so and so". It's like there is no respect, awe, or reverence at all. It totally turns me off, but I try not to be judgemental about it.

That's how I was saved. I didn't realize what it was to be saved when I said the prayer of salvation. It was over a year later, as I submursed myself in the Word and heard others accounts of salvation that I finally understood when and how I got saved.

I know what you mean! I was born again for about 6 months before I even realized it. Then I was reading a book and heard a description of what it means and realized, "hey, that's me!". When I got saved I went back to the Methodist church I was raised in. Stayed there for a year even though it was spiritually dead, because my Mom goes there. Only after I left and went somewhere else did I really start to thrive and grow. Disclaimer: not saying all Methodist churches are spiritually dead!

God Bless and don't beat yourself up!

Thanks for your support Rox!

Love,

Jill

I am back, but too tired to try to catch up yet.
I know that feeling too!

All the changes here in CF combined with trying to fight fires with a water pistol are exhausting and exasperating!

I don't know how much longer I can keep going at this!

Jill are you sure you want to join the Mods!?
