So Perry is a conspiracy nut, too. Who would of thought it?"You are fighting the economic machine of science itself..." is what Perry Marshall says about Michael Behe's work. I've never considered that aspect of the never ending debate.
<snort> This quotation strongly suggests (a) that Perry Marshall knows squat about real science and science funding, and (b) that Perry Marshall is not the brightest fellow on the planet."You are fighting the economic machine of science itself..." is what Perry Marshall says about Michael Behe's work.
Wow -- 4004-2242 BC -- then AD 1603-1625.
That's some dodging!

Accounting Error of the BeastDistant neighbor of the beast?
I believe he was referring to Darwinism...as being all that science has going for it right now, economically speaking, at least, in the minds of evolutionists.
His comments seem to suggest that he believes evolutionary scientists are afraid that they will lose funding (their jobs) if Darwinism is too well, and too furiously shown to be obsolete.
This is just how I interpreted the conversation of the video...I am not up on any of this stuff...so.
The "economic machine" of science provides very little incentive either to study or to accept evolution. It's tough to get funding for purely evolutionary studies -- if biologists want money they're better off studying cancer or baldness. Just who is supposed to be behind this economic pressure? The politicians who set funding priorities? The other scientists who judge competing grant applications? Why would scientists promote something they didn't think was valid? How so?
