  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The plot is supposed to "move" because and by the characters' decisions and reactions, right? Doesn't it then make every story "character driven"?
At least something beyond the characters' powers is what moves the plot completely. I believe this known as Deus Ex Machina. It was the way they resolved the endings at most ancient greek plays.

you can have pages after pages of actions and intrigues without any character development or in-depth characterization. I think character driven stories can be easily picked out..

True - I think it's so important to have a good, strong (if not likeable) lead character, an interesting plot is nice too, and helps to bring OUT the character, but I really think the characters are more important than the story told. ;)

which one are you?

or both?

I do both - I really enjoy developing character in the midst of an exciting plot. My favorite stories are those where the dialogue, setting, plot and character development are intermixed. :)
