I do know a woman who, as a sign of her ultimate tansformation by Christ into a new person, changed her last name to Del Rey (i think that's it. it means "of the king" anyway)

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want to change my name when I get married, but only because of the symbolism in taking his name and such. My name has such a nice flow now, and my BF's name sounds kind of stupid on the end of my name. I'm planning on being a lawyer, so my name will be important, and i'm thinking of maybe going by my original last name for professional things, but changing it to my husband's name for everything else. I know someone else that has done that. It might be too weird though, to have 2 last names. We'll see, I have some time to decide.
