CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay, I'm going to try this once, in the vain hope that for once I can get it through to someone. My depression and anxiety are chemical imbalances. It doesn't matter how blessed I am. It doesn't matter how trusting of God I am. My faulty brain chemistry will not LET me feel those feelings of comfort and succor. It's like asking a quadriplegic to touch their toes with their fingers.
Can you understand that? Try imagining the happiest day you've had in your life, and instead of joy, all you are allowed to feel is hollow. No happiness, no excitement, just gray.
Now, imagine someone telling you that instead of that hollow gray you should feel happy. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD. The problem is that you CAN'T.
THAT'S a mental illness. And believe me, it's not something I enjoy. Especially when it is hand waved away as if it weren't real. Trust me. It is as real as the nose on my face.

Actually that is the true size of Africa. It is the Mercator Map with its big squares and little squares that makes it look smaller than it is. Africa is second only to Asia in size. Any time you try and put a round surface on a flat map something is going to get distorted.
Despite the values of the
Mercator Projection, it
distorts the size and shape
of land areas.
Fact: South America is
8 times as large as
Greenland.
Fact: Africa is 14 times
as large as Greenland.
Here is a different projection:
The Peters Projection is an
“equal area” map. It
represents areas accurately,
but it seriously distorts shapes.
