This is a fascinating discussion and what is most fascinating is that he certainly has a point, there it is written above in what I presume you all truly believe is the actual word of God? Then how can you simply dismiss it, is it a mistake? I think the majority of christians will say there are no mistakes in the bible, but that it is a misinterpretation. If it is a misinterpretation, then how can you have trust in any of it because no matter what your religion or belief system, you are interpreting or you are allowing someone else (another human) to interpret for you. I have always found this quite strange. Either you believe that what is written is true, or you don't. To do anything else in my opinion would have to mean you are ignoring the bits you don't like and taking on as truth the bits you do. Do you just interpret until you like it? Do you truly believe that god ordered bears to kill children because they made fun of someone or that there was a donkey who spoke (just to name a couple of absurdities) or is it just an interpretation or metaphor? If it is just an interpretation or metaphor, then you could just as easily take Jesus's death as a metaphor, he didn't really die as it is written, that's my religions interpretation. For the record I follow no religion, I'm just using it as an example. I'd be truly interested in your answers.
