I'm the exact opposite, I'm like that online. I have no qualms about sparking up a conversation with anyone. Also I'd die before I call anyone "baby", I even have issues with calling someone I'm dating baby or any other pet names. I'm from the South (US) so all the women here open up with "Hey Baby!" Or "Hey Honey" and I'm just... not that girl.

In RL I don't care what people think of me, they already make an opinion I can't seem to change anyhow, so why be what they want. I'm just more quiet and reserved until I get to know someone and then I'm more like my "online self" if you will.

I make terrible first impressions.

Online I'm really quite grandiose, and rather pompous - but it's all in the name of fun. I don't claim to actually be that, and it's always funny when I get what's coming to me and I'm served a wedge of humble pie (usually in the debate forums) - you really can't take yourself too seriously online.

Everyone's different - and that's fine so long as that different is authentic. And it's okay to test the waters a bit before getting to know someone, you're never going to be criticised for that.

On the whole, pet names suck. I nicknamed a girlfriend "dolly" once because she was so small, you could fit her in Barbie's Wendy house, but it caught on, and everyone started to call her that (I think even to this day.)

I've always thought you were really funny. Not pompous but maybe a bit grandiose. :p

I think the closest I've ever gotten to a "pet name" is I might call a guy "Mister". lol But that's where it ends usually.

I feel like I'm fairly authentic, I'm just awkward, kind and can talk for hours about the most random things. Also I didn't get Most Friendly in the CF Awards for nothing :satisfied:

Wow! This thread is almost 10 years old... Anyway, I thought I'll share one of my favourite pick up line. So one day I saw this beautiful girl at the checkout in the grocery store. Our eyes met, and she noticed me and we kept exchanging glances, somehow I couldn't take my eyes off her lol. So I went to her check out and said to her, "Can I check you out of this checkout?" Haha! I'm afraid, that's a lie, I never said that. I never walked up to her check out, but the rest of the story is true :)

I know. It makes me feel old, lol I made this thread when I was 22. :p

I love that story, haha. But that would have been a good line if you had said it. I'm sure she would have thought it was funny. I would have at least. ^_^

I always found those award things confusing - mind you, most of them happened during my borderline alcoholism/sleep deprivation era. I couldn't even tell you if I ever won anything, I don't remember.

I do remember 2010 though - that summer was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. I had the most amazing time. Not quite as good as 2016/17 though, but still fun.

Time sure flies huh. It's good to know that a legend like yourself has been a member on here for that long. Do girls like guys flirting with them? I'll probably get a good slap if I ever tried a line from the likes of Songs of Solomon haha!

Actually that event I mentioned happened about a couple of weeks ago. I keep thinking I'll see her again if I go the grocery store one of these days. I just have to take courage even with all the queues and awkwardness of the social distancing rule all around. However, it would be a big deal breaker if she wasn't a Christian. Anyway, the only way I'd ever know is if I ask...

I don't remember either, TBH. lol The awards were hectic for me, but they seem to have made people smile (for the most part) so I guess it was worth it.

Also there's about a 5 hour difference, so usually the awards were around 10pm eastern which would be I'm assuming 3am your time.

I don't remember any of 2016. 2015 was the worst year in my life so you would think that would be the year I'd block out, but no. lol But I'm glad to hear you had some good summers :satisfied:

I think people have started to think I have a drinking problem since I say "I'd love some wine", so often. It's just because I don't have any.

lol Well thanks :satisfied: I became a member here in 2007, so 13 years total, can't believe it's been that long.

I think flirting is fun and all, I enjoy a good banter. I use a lot of sarcasm though, lol. But like I told shineyourlight, I'm honestly terrible at it. I'm so awkward.

I think it would be hilarious if you tried a line from Songs of Solomon but you would most likely get slapped if you used it for realsies on a girl, haha

Would you use a quarantine pick up line?? :p And true not being a Christian would be a deal breaker but first... pick up line, and then ask the real questions :p

Oh wow! I guess you must have noticed a lot of changes over the years...
haha! quarantine pick up lines is not a bad call. Well, I suppose a bit of flirting is not bad if one is single but I wouldn't intentionally want to lead a girl on or play with her heart with no real intent on pursuing a real relationship.

I've heard a few funny quarantine pick up lines that would at least break the ice and hopefully make her giggle. If she doesn't laugh at corny jokes then idk what to do with that kind of person. :sorry: Just kidddinggg (kind of.)

You gotta work on that sarcasm! :p

Some quarantine pickup lines:
Are you a pandemic? Because you have my heart on lockdown! :D

You have zoomed into my life. (Like the voice chatting service)

Do you need toilet paper? Because I can be your Prince Charmin (Please don't ever use this one lol)

You look amazing from this distance.

Hey Girl, you come within 6 feet of this place often?

I wouldn't want to be quarantined with anyone else but you.

Glad to be of service :satisfied: Although the TP one is funny I would never recommend it because I feel like you'd get the girl backing away slowly then running off scenario. :p

I'm glad you enjoyed them :D

Hey girl, did you know I tested negative for COVID?

Hey girl, are you the Coronavirus, because you're smile is highly infectious.

Hey girl, we should get Corona together. The beer. Not the virus.

Hey girl, your temperature must be 103, because you're hot.

Haha! I'm starting to think maybe we shouldn't joke about these things considering people are apparently dying out there from it...

Ever wondered where nursery rhymes about the black plague came from?.... We humans have a resilient ability to make jokes out of the darkest things...
