  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Censorship

Should any of the following ever be censored by the govt, agency, or institution?

  • Harsh language

  • Graphic violence

  • Strong sexual content

  • Derogatory racial slurs

  • Unpatriotic themes

  • None of these

  • All, even if it is mild

You may go insane without TV and cell phones or other technology, but that is not a true statement. Technology is great. But if your dependant on it and not on Elohim the Creator then.......................... that is sin?
Sorry, didn't see this one. Didn't mean to ignore your question.

Are you asking me if I think technology is a sin or if I think depending on technology is a sin? I am not quite for sure why the question mark is there. I will try and answer any way. If we become dependent on technology to where it replaces our dependency on God then I would say it is a sin.

This sunday I looked around during the sermon (since it was for seekers anyway) and noticed that many people were on there Ipads, cell phones, and other media devices. Now some of course were browsing through their Bibles on line but I guarantee that many were checking their stupid facebook status. I even saw one literally playing a game on his Ipad, and he was on the worship team. Our pastor now says instead of get out your bibles get out your Ipads, go to facebook and post that you are at church. Sure that sounds like a good witness tool, but I can't help to think that the reason why he tells them to do that is for free advertisement. Again, we have forgotten how o communicate with each other, even in church. Soon we will all stay home and have on line church, virtual communion, and sim city baptizers. Where does it stop?

Well your description of the 'church service' of the future is probably prophetic more than any would like to think.
The scripture says that in the end it will be like in the days of Noah where men's hearts will be only evil continually. Are we living in that day? Maybe not just yet, still closer than is comfortable.
I'm sure none of the folks you saw in a 'church service' that were scanning their Ipads, ect.. thought they were doing anything that was not perfectly moral. Would any want to put some restrictions (censorship ) on them?
The ten commandments that were the basis of our laws in the past are not not very welcome in a so called enlightened society.
The so called church is seeker friendly so those who enter that fall on their face because of being unsaved, doesn't happen. Repentance isn't preached because we have not considered that a loving message. Looking at the scripture we see Jesus reaching out to the lost by healing and teaching. Well there isn't any healing done in most churches. And the authority that Jesus spoke with is missing so how can a powerless people reach a lost generation? This is not to be a downer of a post. It is just the time we are living in. The carnal mind cannot replace the authority and power of the living God.
Look up lift up your heads and praise the Lord for your salvation.
Keep you garments clean and oil in your lamp. Be instant and in season with a word when the Holy Spirit moves on you. He is our power.
Thanks for the thoughts you have shared. I appreciate the way you make us think on these things.

Final Tally from two different sites:

58.7% Strong Sexual Content
50.0% Graphic Violence
39.1% Nothing
32.6% Harsh Language
23.9% Religious Slander
21.7% Racial Slurs
8.7% Unpatriotic Themes
4.3% All

religious slander and racial slurs were separated on the other site, so these numbers are not perfect but still gives me a good start on what to write on my site.
