Wow, that is an awesome deal SOTFB!
Last night I took a nap and my DH did the diaper stuffing... I had two loads of diapers to stuff, and only 6 diapers left on our bathroom shelves.
I woke up to him stuffing diapers and said sleepily "did you stuff the ones that were in the basket too?" He said "Did you not just walk past our room to the bathroom?" To which I replied "Yeah, but what does that have to do with it?" -- He'd stuffed 24 diapers and left them sitting on the bed and I didn't even see it when I walked by. LOL!
I'd just been too tired, shot and having to wear or hold JD so much (and not do anything else due to his mood) to be able to actually stuff them after washing.
The good thing about having a large stash, you can wait until you have a full load to go in the washer before washing them. That's about 18-24 diapers... for us about 3-5 days worth of diaper changing depending on the weather.
We just rinse off the poopy diapers and put them in a pail, and the wet ones I seperate and put in with them. When it comes time to wash, I do a short wash cycle to rinse them, then I run it on a full cycle with extra rinse.... Since our soap is a compacted form, I use 1/8th of what they reccommend (it really goes a LONG way) when washing so we don't have an overload of soap on them.
I have found we can hang them out to dry on our balcony rack, OR we have a rack in the bathroom over the tub that works equally as well. Depending on my day though, I might throw them in the dryer. This week I was short on time so that's what I did.
For me the biggest/best payoff is knowing JD is happy, enjoys his diapers -- and it was a onetime investment for more than one child.
