  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow, that is an awesome deal SOTFB!

Last night I took a nap and my DH did the diaper stuffing... I had two loads of diapers to stuff, and only 6 diapers left on our bathroom shelves. :(

I woke up to him stuffing diapers and said sleepily "did you stuff the ones that were in the basket too?" He said "Did you not just walk past our room to the bathroom?" To which I replied "Yeah, but what does that have to do with it?" -- He'd stuffed 24 diapers and left them sitting on the bed and I didn't even see it when I walked by. LOL!

I'd just been too tired, shot and having to wear or hold JD so much (and not do anything else due to his mood) to be able to actually stuff them after washing.

The good thing about having a large stash, you can wait until you have a full load to go in the washer before washing them. That's about 18-24 diapers... for us about 3-5 days worth of diaper changing depending on the weather.

We just rinse off the poopy diapers and put them in a pail, and the wet ones I seperate and put in with them. When it comes time to wash, I do a short wash cycle to rinse them, then I run it on a full cycle with extra rinse.... Since our soap is a compacted form, I use 1/8th of what they reccommend (it really goes a LONG way) when washing so we don't have an overload of soap on them.

I have found we can hang them out to dry on our balcony rack, OR we have a rack in the bathroom over the tub that works equally as well. Depending on my day though, I might throw them in the dryer. This week I was short on time so that's what I did.

For me the biggest/best payoff is knowing JD is happy, enjoys his diapers -- and it was a onetime investment for more than one child. :)

You call that a stash? Here's my stash - and this is ONLY the things I am currently using. I have newborn stuff in storage.

DS is 8 months old, 17+lbs, full-time EC'd and we have been cloth diapering since birth.

Prefolds and Fitted Diapers
1 dozen Premium-sized unbleached Indian prefolds from Little Lions
6 medium All Together Diaper fitteds
2 one-sized Dingleberryz fitteds
2 medium Dream-eze fitteds (our nighttime dipe)
1 medium Happy Hempy fitted (our other nighttime dipe - it's a pocket, we stuff with 1 microfiber and 1 hemp insert)
1 size 2 Kissluvs
1 one-sized hemp Baby Beehinds

Covers
1 medium wool interlock LoveyBums wrap
2 small wool interlock soakers (one Royal Buns, the other Dunk n Fluff)
1 pair of wool interlock Peenut Pants shorties
2 pairs of crocheted wool shorties
2 small Thirsties (out but not really being used at all)
1 medium new style Gdiaper cover with two liners (for when we are out and about)

Pocket Diapers (mostly out and about dipes)
1 small new style Fuzzi Bunz
3 medium old style Fuzzi Bunz
3 Bum Genius 1.0
Stuffins - 3 Cotton Babies microfiber inserts, 2 CB socks, 1 CB one-sized, 4 BG microfiber, 7 Jamtots hemp inserts

Doublers
4 Cotton Babies StayDry doublers
3 SMJAE fleece-topped hemp doublers (these go in our Dream-eze for nighttime)
3 medium Babykicks Hemparoos
2 wool liners

Accessories
1 Snappi - old style
2 dozen flannel wipes from SMJAE
2 Wahmies wetbags (one regular and one all day)

My primary diaper bag is a Jeep Baby Traveler bag. I also have a Land's End Do-it-all, but I don't use it much.
My diaper pail is a Costco 1 Step which I line with Ruffles Vanilla Scented trashbags.
My detergent is Purex Free Clear. I lanolize my woolies with a Ewe Need It wool wash bar then spray them with woolie spray.
My wipes warmer is by Munchkin. I make my solution using baby wash, Burts Bee Apricot Oil and tea tree oil.
My bum treater of choice is Earth Mama Angel Baby Baby Bottom Balm. I also sometimes use Aveeno Calming diaper cream.
We EC with a white Baby Bjorn Little Potty (and the big toilet...and the sink... )

Now, that's a stash.

 Wow... I'm gonna have to get a second job if I plan to keep this up :D

What with buying used or in co-ops, swapping/trading and reselling what I didn't like, my entire stash (including the newborn stuff that's not listed) still cost less than $300. ;)

I did just order my first custom wool interlock soaker though, so I'm probably over $300 now.

Aaaw...are you not cd'ing your newest addition, Jan?
No. I thought about it while I was pregnant, but was overwhelmed with just getting used to having Another child. ;) Then I Had Abel, and with all the pumping and bottle feeding and stress I thought "thank God I'm Not cloth diapering"... but then my oldest DD told me that she & her DH were talking cloth diapers for their new baby (due in Nov.) and asked me for links. So I started looking around and am feeling the bug to go cloth again.

DH has flat out said no this time though. He's worried about me doing too much (which he has a point) because pumping every 2 hrs or so and doing bottles In Addition to all the new baby stuff IS rough. I'm not sure how long I'm going to do this though... I bought a Medela Lactina (off eBay) and will be able to resell it for probably more than I paid for it, so I'm thinking when that time comes I'll have the money to cd and Dh won't mind anymore 'cause I won't be pumping full time anymore... anyway that was more info than you asked for. ;) lol

If I was going to buy cd's today though, I'd go with Imse Vimse contour diapers with a couple different wraps (probably Imse Vimse & Bummis or Bumkins). I also saw some Sugar Peas snap-in-dipes with wool covers that looked so fun!

I totally understand the addiction to cd'ing. I had it Bad when I was using cloth full time with one of my boys. lol

The Imse Vimse contour are AMAZING! :D I'm slowly selling off all my pockets and replacing them with covers for my IVs...I LOVE them!!! :D

We do the monster fluff fleece covers...they are so adorable! :D

Jesse said no....until I told him I'd be able to (for the most part) turn around and use themfor the next LO (if we ever have another one)..and he was sold. We considered PTing J but he just isn't ready. :)

The world of cloth nappies seems to be a big one. Until a month or two ago I didn't know there was anything other than terry toweling nappies available. I have one itti bitti d'lish nappy that fits, one that's still too big and two pea pod nappies which we were given but are still a bit big around the legs (they work for wee, but not for poo). So I usually use terry toweling nappies with a snappi and some plastic pants over the top. I always feel sad putting his plastic pants over his nappy because he looks so cute with the nappy on.

I'd like to get a couple more fancy nappies because the terry toweling are so bulky. But I will still use terry toweling, at night in particular because they never leak.
