  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok so I had to switch to the cheap disposables for overnights and they are breaking my guy out...big time. The only time he wears disposables is at night and when he goes to Nanny's house. Nanny is willing to put him in cloth but I can't find ANYTHING to keep him dry overnight. Any suggestions on some cheap, cost effective cloth I can use for overnight?

We used fleece this summer. It really wasn't bad at all...and we were in mega-hot/humid NC. I've not actually used wool, J's skin reacts badly to it. :( I would think that if it breathes well with wet, it would be fine, though.

Angel...we use disposables overnight because I've not been able to find anything that will last the 12 hours he sleeps. We typically use pampers...but we've had to make major cutbacks so I bought Luvs this time around. He's ot a rash in the diaper area from them every morning...so I thought it might just be more cost-effective to find some cloth that is super-heavy duty. We use Goodmamas, Chunky Monkeys and GADs....and none of them can hang overnight. :swoon:

Fleece is almost as breathable as wool, just fyi. :)

Birbitt~ I'm in El Paso, TX, and used cloth for one of my babies. The wool wraps were the Best thing I ever used on him! The 2nd best was fleece believe it or not. And it was Summer here, which is almost as hot as you guys in Arizona. ;)

Ok thanks. Now I guess I just have to decide what kind of diaper to use. There are so many different kinds that I'm getting confused trying to decide which ones are best. I was thinking just simple old prefolds and flats with a cover but I've heard they leak...then I thought maybe I could make my own...but the PUL needed to make them seems awful expensive to me so if I make them I'll still need covers...drat..I'm just too confused with all these kinds of diapers...

I don't care for prefolds...but I want a diaper to last longer than 30 minutes...and with my guy, that's a challenge! ;)

Try fitteds. They don't need PUL, they need covers...but they don't leak like prefolds. That's what we mainly use. And the super good part is that they snap...so no diaper pins necessary. :)

We tried the pockets but they just required too much work. THe fitteds that we use are the goodmamas (I know I mentioned that a billion times...sorry :sorry:). They are OSFM...have an extra soaker that snaps in, no stuffing required, they snap...and then you just throw a cover over them. We have fleece and PUL covers. The pul aren't quite so bulky so they go better under clothes.

Jan-I'll check that link...thank you so much! The BGs didn't really fit my guy very well....but I'll check that other site for sure! Thank you!

Birbitt... try using bamboo prefolds rather than cotton. They absorb much more than cotton, therefore less leaks. The main thing to remember with prefolds and covers is to have a cover with leg gussets. Helps stop poos and leaks coming out.

jgnoz... that is good to know about the fleece. I'm looking to get something other than a pul cover with FOE on it as Maddie has a reaction to the FOE. So fleece might be our most effective way to go.

Has anyone used swaddlebees side snap AIO's before?
I'm thinking of getting 2 for Madeleine's large stash. They are on sale at the moment. I really like the side snap on my chubby legged baby girl!

So I think I've decided to go with some super soakers (bamboo) to put in my fitteds. I think that will give us the extra protection we need. I'm going to throw a fleece soaker on him and some fleece longies. Nothing shoudl get through that! lol

Ugh... the place I ordered the tots bots from said they had it in stock on their website and then i get an email saying they don't have it! I'm kinda annoyed. How hard is it to update your website? Seriously. So I swapped it for a wool cover. If they don't have that is stock I'm going to ask for my money back.
I emailed asking about sizing, and I still haven't received one back yet. I just really want my cover. Maddie needs something other than the ones we had atm, They are giving her red marks.
