  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We don't use in-toilet cleaners...but I can imagine that it wouldn't be okay that way. :D

We use microfleec liners (just itty bitty ones that cover the tail end) and I take a flushable wipe to that when he messes, scrape with that and then swish (I admit, I have rubber gloves). I can't just scrape and put it in the wetbag...it makes my whole load smell too much like poo! :(

Assisi...the wetbags are great because you can stuff 1-2 days worth of dipes in them. They are waterproof and they (for the most part) hold the smell in, too. I LOVE our wetbags. :D

I washed every other day, so poo diapers weren't in there long at all. I also did a pre-wash first, which got rid of any "stuff" on the diapers before all the dipes went through the regular wash cycle.

I love my wetbags~ I have 3. They worked great for diapers, and you can just throw them in with the diapers whenever they need to get washed. Once we were done with cloth, I've used them for dirty clothes when camping or on vacation.

I think I've decided to go with flushable gdiapers part time, and use cloth inserts in the gdiaper pants/wraps when I'm home. I found a place that makes cloth inserts specifically for gdiaper pants/wraps so they fit perfectly! The inserts are burley knit terry with velour or microfleece, and they're a flap design so they're easy to wash & dry. :) Apparently the Bum Genius inserts fit the gdiapers as well...

I think we might get one then.

I have another question.

How many nappies would you get to keep your little one in cloth all day? We use terries at night, so we don't need to worry about night. At the moment I have two working nappies - obviously not enough - and the inserts are usually dry on the third day after I wash them.

I have 18 diapers split between two kids and that's enough for me to keep them in cloth day and night and wash every other day.

Assisi, I have about 18-20 or so nappies... I wash every second day. Occasionally I use the drier to finish the nappies off. If you get a couple more itti's and a couple more inserts you can double your stash without the huge cost. Sometimes you can reuse the shell without washing, depending whether it was a number 1 or 2!
We use disposables at night... Although I think i'm going to get some more Baby Beehinds Fitteds and a couple more covers too...

Assisi if you are looking at a baby beehinds wetbag, I'm going to a BBH party on Friday so i could pick one up for you and drop it at your parents so you save on postage... also if you want any of their nappies!

I just weeded out my stash. In reality, I only use about half a dozen prefolds, half a dozen fitteds and couple of pockets when I do laundry every other day.

I have two wetbags. One small one for wet diapers when we are out (rarely need it though, DS pottys predictably when out) and a large one to act as a diaper pail during overnight trips. At home, we use a dry pail.

I would get a small diaper bag size wetbag or some of the munchkin plastic baggies from wal mart. I travel with those but I know some people use teeniny wetbags that will hold 2-3 dipes and fold right into the diaper bag.

We use 16 imse vimses, about 12 prefolds and I have about 10 pockets. We wash every second or third day but I rarely touch the prefolds...so we have about 26. J wears disposables at night.

I think I might need one of those sprayers but I am going to wait until the 2nd bathroom is finished hopefully this winter. Then I can put it in the one that Maya won't be potty training in, I think that would be too tempting for a toddler. I don't really know how they work though.

I keep my diapers in a small kitchen trash can, no liners. It has not been a problem. Every so often I bleach the can in the bathtub. But I like things simple and cheap, I have other things I would rather spend my money on.

I just had to come and share.:D Tonight we ordered a 13 pack of nappies from itti bitti. I got some smalls, some mediums, and some larges and I know they will be soooo cute! I got extra inserts too so that I can get more use out of them. They have some new colours out. I ordered a black medium and spent my spending money on some black babylegs to go with it. I think they will make a cute emo baby, but my husband pointed out that Matt's GrandDad will be proud because he'll be dressed in All Blacks colours (my husband is a New Zealander).

I've tried a few different nappies now. Seriously girls, you have to try the itti. It is a really cool nappy. The itti bitti d'lish is my favourite.

I plan on ordering a few AIO's before bubs arrives. That way I'll have a selection of several different kinds, and then I can make my choice for the remainder of her diaper years. I like prefolds for the wee babes but I'm not so sure I want to use them with an 18 month old :D
