  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

*Clothing Return*
While working in a clothing store, I noticed that people had no shame about returning items that obviously had been worn. One rainy morning I walked in and found a discolored blazer hanging on the rack with other returns.

"People return the most filthy, nasty things," I commented to my supervisor who was standing nearby.

Eyebrow raised, she said, "That's my jacket."

6 Months to Live
The middle-aged man was visibly shaken when his Doctor advised that he had only 6 month's to live because of the terminal disease that was detected during a recent physical check-up. The Doctor suggested that he should get his "house in order", make sure his will was current and ensure all final arrangements were in place for the funeral. He should then make plans to enjoy what might be left of his life, to the fullest. "What will you do for the last six months?" asked the Doctor. His patient thought for a few minutes then replied, "I think I'll go and live with my mother-in-law." Surprised by the answer, the doctor asked, "Of all people, why in the would you want to live with your mother-in-law?" "Because it'll be the longest six months of my life!"
:D :sorry:

I hear you both. By me too.

Do you have a breeze Content?
I remember it being breezy sometimes down at the shore. But yeah no humidity for you!
Not yet.

It's funny but I did not put in A/C until about 7 years ago - existed on the sea breeze and a ceiling fan in every room. Ever since then the weather has been totally opressive in the summer. BUT this year has been glorious until the past couple of weeks when the humidity set in. High temps but I've had the windows open for the sea breeze and no humidity. How come we're having July in August? :D

Edited to add: Here's a webcam from down the street! http://cmn.dl.stevens-tech.edu/cgi-bin/cmn.pl

Al Gore told me it is because of global warming. ;)
:D Sorry couldn't help myself.

I used to go to the shore all the time when I was a kid, mostly to Seaside Heights, a few times to Wildwood.
I used to like in a small town near Wayne, NJ (NE NJ)
and it was less than 2 hours to go down to Seaside. Lots of fun memories.

Hope the nice sea breeze comes soon!

I am glad I don't have that anymore too!!!!!!!!
I had it for 13 months. Horrid! Yes I empathize with your mom very very much, I prayed and prayed for it to be healed, but it ran it's course. I like to think that at time's God allows things to play out for us to not only grow from it but to be able to support/pray/sympathize for others that will go through similar things as we do.
I have had some mighty healing touches and one might say miracles to me and ppl I know in terms of healings, but I think that sometimes it is for our better good and/or good for others that things play out naturally.
But God sure gave me the strength to endure all that pain, I did complain and cry alot, but God saw me through it.

God will see your mom through this too.
And praying :prayer: that the swelling goes down so she will not need an operation!!!!

Yes sometimes I go on and on :)

Wildwood's about 4 miles away from me. But it's nothing now like you might remember it. It's full of McMansion townhouses and condos for those who can't afford the Hamptons. :( All the people who could afford to rent there for peanuts year-round are having to move out of the county. It's really changing and not in a good way.

Oh I believe that!!!
4 miles from Wildwood, gosh i can't even imagine the prices, well I can but...:(
People flock to the shore, all of the NJ shore, but Wildwood was one of the more nicer/upscale places. this is remember from the 70's . It was still quiet though. I can picture it still.
I know where I came from and my hubby (Franklin Lakes) things have changed drastically.
I shudder to think of the property taxes now! :(
As you know ppl have lived there for decades and so many are on fixed incomes.
So many ppl that work in the City (NY) now live and vacation all over. I don't blame them, they can do what they like, but with ppl making such money, it hurts the rest of us.

That is one of the reasons I moved to the Poconos, house prices. Yes I love it here, it is quiet and has lots of woods. But I never would of afforded a house where I came from. I rented for almost twice as much (in the late 80s) as my house payment is. :sigh:

I feel for you Content

Oh, you're in the Poconos? Wow!

As a child we used to vacation for a week at Twin Lakes just outside of Milford. The cabin had no drywall - just studs and open wiring and pipes, LOL. Today it would not be allowed. And chipmunks that came down the chimney to eat grapes left on the table. And a dock and a rowboat and canoe and a crystal clear lake to see the minnows eating your toes! How I loved it.

As an adult my husband and I used to stay in Milford at Myer's Motel (sweet cabins with Laura Ashley wallpaper and sheets) and one day we explored the roads around the lake and the cabin from my youth was STILL THERE! What a precious day that was!

Where are you?

Milford would be more rural than me. That all sounds great though.
I am in White Haven. In the western Poconos. Not in town (a townie) but on the far outskirts. I have a regular house :D but in the woods.
But one think for sure, when the kids are grown and gone, I may keep this house but get a little place somewhere else. Maybe Maine by the shore, who knows.

But I so believe that place is still there. LOL. Lots of things have changed in the Poconos, but alot of places are still as they were.

Wow Mags, you're really not that far from me! My husband and I honeymooned there! It's really quite beautiful there!
Come on over
It is nice here. I live in a community, not a fancy one, some are here. I am glad I do not, it is pretty rural here, lots of space. Lots of deer, I toss them carrots, not many bears, some, but they sure scare me. :sigh:

Deer are wild animals. But they are much tamer than big dogs!!! I have been bit and others I know :(

But anyways I live in a no hunt zone, deers stay here. I did have a buck once stike the grown like a bull with his hoof and even take a few steps towards by hubby, but that is when I first moved here and took over their trails.

I heard a strange noice recently, a big loud noice, and it was the mama deer nursing her 2 fawns. So cute, and only about 10-15 feet from me in the front yard.

They are so cute

In the summer I see them most everyday, if not everyday every other day. In the winter I see them , but not often cause they bed down so often in the cold weather.

Wouldn't that be so cool! To meet in real life!!

It sounds like you live in a beautiful area. It's like that here, minus the bears. I'm originally from Thunder Bay, which is where I'm going on my holidays...there are so many bears there!! :swoon:

They're such beautiful animals though. Around here, the most dangerous part of them is them crossing roads...so many car accidents.

Maybe one day, and in the mean time...
:)

I, my hubby, nor my daughter have hit a deer.
I have lived here almost 20 years, most everyone does.
I worked with one kid that hit 3 deer in 6 months. Everybody hits them but not like he did. :sigh:

He was 17 then. He was good the first 2. the last one he had glass in his eyes. :(
He was driving fast but it is a rural road and the limit is 55, so not fast for him just the speed limit.
No lights, no crossroads, no nothing. Not much one can do but watch the light in a deer's eyes. I hate driving at night!!!
