Quite a few actually. There are many Catholics that have no particular special devotions to Mary. Not saying that's a good thing but it's true.

I am sure you are correct. All I can say is that I have been around for a long time now, and every Catholic person I know says the Rosary and The Hail Mary is an essential element of the Rosary, a prayer method in use especially among western Roman Catholics.

The Hail Mary is not required of anyone, but the great majority of Catholics do pray that prayer, as for instance, when saying the Rosary.

Yes. In confession the priest could give you for example five Our Fathers and five Hail Marys. God Bless
