A Nazarite was one who took a specific vow upon themselves.

That's right. There is no evidence that Jesus was a Nazarite...and being from Nazareth certainly would not do it.

This reminds of a conversation i had once with a lady who was a member of the Nazarene denomination. She told me with utmost sincerity that she was a Nazarene because Jesus was also a Nazarene.

Would you like to join the Salvation Army because Jesus was all about Salvation, or perhaps you'd be interested in either the Christian Church or the Church of Christ, because you yourself are a Christian thus all about Christ?

Whenever I read "Church of the Nazarene" I think that we're running out of names for new denominations that want to sound non-denominational and original.

What's left? "Church of the native of Bethlehem" or perhaps "Jesusist Church?"

Well, there already are the "Church of the Living God" and the "Church of God in Christ," so we're running out of possibilities.

There is an unionist group called the Ecumenical Calendarist Episcopal Presbyterian Congregationalist Brethren - Orthodox Baptist Church of Protestant Jesus Christ -- Catholic Synod. Unfortunately neither the North Synod nor the South Synod recognize their claim, however they are currently in negotiation with both the Occidental and the Oriental Synods.
