Caterpillars Prove Evolution

While I agree that evolution is amazing, caterpillars turning into butterflies is not evolution. It's not two different creatures it's a single creature with a interesting ability to radically change shape as it reaches adulthood. Its genetics is unchanged.

If you want something even weirder check out how Locusts and Grasshoppers transform into one another when food is plentiful or scarce.

Wow even more amazing evolution proof. Animals randomly changing into other animals. Evolution is amazing.

A caterpillar spawn of a Monarch butterfly will, if it survives, turn into another Monarch butterfly. It will never turn into another kind of butterfly and it will certainly never turn into a moth.

It's not random! the metamorphosis is coded into their DNA.

The ability has evolved, but the act of transformation isn't evolution, it's just like in humans we go through some transformations at puberty, just more extreme.

Yes, the DNA evolved... but that still doesn't make everything it does evolution.

You are mistaken. Each Caterpillar will only transform into the same form as its parents.

If it hatched from and egg laid by peppered moths, then it will transform into a peppered moth; if it hatched from an egg laid by a monarch butterfly the it will transform into a monarch butterfly.

The truth is, the caterpillar does not have a genus, does it?

Since macroevolution is one genus giving birth to another genus, I would say that somehow the caterpillar circumvents Linnaeus' doctrine.

I could write on a sheet of paper that both oranges and humans come from the same genus: Citrus.

That wouldn't make me an orange, would it?

Scientific working definition of Evolution: Changes in population allele frequencies over time. (Changes in the genetic characteristics of a population over time).

Only populations evolve, not individuals.
