Im struggling with this not because I feel what I do in any way will get me to heaven but what I do as of Sinning I feel there is a consequence what is it ? I don't see it and we as children of God should obey His request to be perfect as He is in heaven!? I seem to ruffle feathers every time this comes up?? And I know we sin but ware is the line between being strong and remembering he will not give us more in temptation then we can handle and saying we're sinners?! Doesn't this cause us to stumble more saying we are sinners versus were are redeemed and can repent why do so many lean more on we are week then we can be strong in Him?! And what's the consequence to being a slave to sin?! I'm scarred to ask my pastor in fear he'll think I'm unknowledgable !

Yes we can all fall from Grace…..or we can fall upon the Rock for help. And if your pastor is worth his salt, he will admire you for your honest question and be more than happy to help you without judging. If your afraid to ask or talk to your pastor then its time to find another church and pastor where your not. God Bless and welcome!

Thanks for the reply,I hope to see passages but the only one is no one can snatch you from my hands which is contrary to what I think would be the result of not Bering on the path that Leeds to salvation even after excepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. Still looking for the answer :)

Being born and raised in a Baptist church I always heard that we can sin today and God will forgive us tomorrow and it's almost as if All Christians or some denominations believe that regardless that you can sin and your saved even in the middle of that sin!? I just feel it's not true and is the devils way of leading us back into sin! To willfully sin or practicing sin!! read * For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ([bless and do not curse]Hebrews‬ [bless and do not curse]10‬:[bless and do not curse]26‬ KJV) i know are flesh is week and to only see the negative aspects of the Bible and not the positive or always leaning on the ability to sin and not pushing for redeeming are sins or repenting from them! turning from evil and grasping that true understanding ( the ability to turn from evil) or wisdom ( the fear of God) that God is expecting us to grasp versus just being lazy and indulging in our flash and seeing all the easy roads in the Bible instead of listening to the 1000 of countless ones telling us to be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect?! I'm a young Christian I know it but I also know that when you tell some one in AA there going to drink again it's not a good thing so why is it ok as a Christian to tell another Christian it's ok to sin? Or to be a sinner?again fully aware what I do can never get me to heaven only Jesus can by forgiving my sins! But can he forgive you if your still Sinning? can he forgive you if you don't ask for forgiveness ? cuz your still Sinning or won't let go of that sin ?? Humbly your sister in Christ. Truly my pastor is a good man I'm just an over thinker really! I should talk to him you correct!! :)

Phil. 1:6

2 Tim 2:18-19
Heb 10:10-14
Heb 9:12-15

But, you can still "fall in grievous sin" and it does not affect grace, but will affect your earthly life. Remember that grace is not just for the next life. It makes this one much better too.

Could be wrong, but sounds like a What do I do with my new found freedom? question lies somewhere nearby. Getting that from the OP's second post.

Towards something different:

I and the next believer will still feel that pull towards the flesh until Jesus returns. And Paul did write, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."

When tempted, I ask Jesus to remove the great pull of the flesh. Why? I'm weak. Without him, I will fall and have made mistakes. I hurt him with my sin. But Jesus has forgiven me, and I love him. God has saved me from various vices... overeating, lusting, etc. And many other countless. He is good and loving and pours his favor upon His children.

God gives us room to fail. He does this because he loves us. He is a perfect Heavenly Father.

I hope I'm speaking in turn. Correct me please if I am not giving the larger picture, I need to show my ignorance so I can grow, too. I want to grow and not be prideful any longer, thinking I know it all. Anyhoo... .

One falls from Grace not when they sin, but when they return to the Law.

"For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the Law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace." Gal 5:4

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the later end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: a dog returns to his own vomit and a sow, having been washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

Having condemnation because they have cast off their first faith.

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.

Be faithful until death and I will give you the crown of life.

Hello friend,

The passage about those who willingly choose to sin after receiving The Truth, is saying (from my understanding),"Those who acknowledge the truth but choose to disregard it to continue in their sins, have eternally denied Christ."

Those who call themselves Believers but continue to practice sin willfully, without at least trying to stop or ask for God's help, the Bible says, where not truly saved to begin with...

Because those who are saved are a new being, and God's seed is in them. Basically saying a truly saved being will not willingly choose to practice sin.And even though he/she might struggle with a temptation or even an addiction, he/she will at least try to stop and try to serve the Lord, and pray for His help, and will repent of his/her sin...

And all the passages abysmul pointed out are talking about, from my understanding, those who turn away from Christ and go to the Law, or anything else for that matter, for salvation. Or, possibly, those who reject Christ to willingly go about sinning... but I lean more towards the former then the latter.

Hope that helped you out, please feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

John 3:16 should suffice, but let's look at Ephesians 2:8-10 and Titus 3:4-7:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

What is the basis of salvation? GRACE
What is salvation? THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE
How are we saved? THROUGH FAITH
Faith in what? The Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption
What is the outcome of salvation? GOOD WORKS

If salvation is a gift of God's grace, then you did not deserve it and you can do nothing to keep it. If you were genuinely saved, you will do good works. If not you must repent and obey the Gospel (Acts 17:30). But no one can "fall from grace" This is false doctrine. Grace would not be grace if that was true.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

What is the basis of salvation? GRACE (kindness, love, mercy)
What is excluded as a basis of salvation? WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
What is the supernatural work of God? REGENERATION
How do we receive the Holy Spirit? AS AN ABUNDANT GIFT
Who gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit? JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR
What is the outcome of salvation? JUSTIFICATION
What is another outcome of salvation? HEIRSHIP
What is another outcome of salvation? ETERNAL LIFE

This proves that salvation is entirely a GIFT of God's grace, and if you are truly saved then this will be the result (Tit 2:11-14):
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

What does the grace of God teach? DENIAL OF UNGODLINESS
What else does it teach? DENIAL OF WORDLY LUSTS
What else does it teach? SOBER LIVING
What else does it teach? RIGHTEOUS LIVING
What else does it teach? GODLY LIVING
What else does it teach? PURIFYING ONESELF
What esle does it teach? BEING ZEALOUS IN GOOD WORKS

So if we are a prisoner to sin or willfully sin does this mean we weren't saved to begin with? I know he waits for his sheep but I'm wondering what's the consequence to not turning from sin or not being able to remove the chains of sin / willfully sin after you are walking with the Lord or I guess hiding behind a strong church life ?! Thanks job8 what a great person you are btw for putting so much of you into that :)

the Bible teaches two things...

1. That Saved people must persevere.
2. That Saved people will persevere.

So many scriptures seem to indicate that if a saved person doesn't persevere they will be lost. Those scriptures are true. However, other scriptures teach that all truly saved people will persevere. 1st John 5:4 says "whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world." All who are born again overcome. So the result is that no truly saved person can be lost.

The only real question is what is persevering or overcoming? To what degree must one be sanctified? On the one hand scripture teaches that believers still sin. On the other hand the scriptures teach that God will, over time, bring about an increase in holiness in the believer's life. The problem is no one really knows how much sanctification or how little sanctification is allowable. That is why we cannot really discern our justification from our sanctification. As long as we look at our works we cannot really be sure.

Therefore, look to Jesus for assurance. If you truly believe that you are saved and forgiven, not because of your works, but because Jesus' death on the cross has paid for your sin you can have assurance. Faith is believing and trusting that you are saved because of what Jesus did. You just have to trust in His blood and not in your works. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Romans 4:5 "to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness."

All who are born again overcome. So the result is that no truly saved person can be lost.
This is the key. Furthermore we need to be clear about sin in the believer's life:

1. God creates a "new man" in Christ when a person is born again.
2, The "new man" possesses the Holy Spirit.
3. The Holy Spirit empowers the "new man" to live righteously.
4. The "old man" (the flesh or sinful nature) is not eradicated, but does not have to be in control.
5. The Christian is commanded to "walk in the Spirit" and he will not fulfil the desires of the flesh.

So if an individual loves sin and sinning, there is a good possibility that this person has not been born again. Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Thank you for that ! This information is
Helpful to understand biblically what is the true consequence of being a slave to sin! I've been praying on this answer and what I got from the Lords words Is only God knows your heart! So simple and yet just perfect ;) GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

What I have always stood on and stood strong on and had in my heart since the age of accountability is People say who can not sin and I say who can sin?! to be participating in this sinful generation means you agree with rape, murder, molestation of children, murdering baby's & children, the abuse of animals and babies and women! So run from it!u
either you are for me or against me" Jesus says ! so he weighs a persons sin as is equal to another! Are sins are equal to each others" in Gods eyes! This sin is pain you should also feel by loving one another and desperately wanting to help those in need!
Be set apart! be a lite on top of a hill so those in darkness can be lead out! be the salt of the earth ! and in doing that, you bring the lost children of God out of the hands of Satin!
But that means you have to walk according to his will! Gods will! Sin free! Repenting from your sins! Being a slave /practicing sin, only means you are part of the world! Yes we will stumble and grow, be chastened and formed/ molded to His image but to not run the race with endurance to not fight the good fight means you expect God to do the work and you wait in sin till he delivers you!? GOD FORBID!
We are a disobedient generation ! I don't see any one obeying Gods law I see everyone leaning on Jesus dying on the cross for our sin but they don't do the work to produce the fruit that his dying for are sins offers is to produce! Repent ask for forgiveness be sin free and if you stumble repent again if you can't by your self , starve your flesh feed your spirit! Do the work! Cut out your eye!"
I have held on to this for my entire life and seem to notice not many people agree with it !? :(
In my mind the devil tells me, it's because I'm wrong? But in my heart the Lord tells me it's because I'm a true child of God! But who knows I will continue to search and meditate read the Word! God bless !humbly your sister in Christ Jesus!
Please forgive my ignorance if I have shown any. I use my own words because it's easier to understand them but in return I feel it's ignorant ;) iron sharpens iron so please reply! I love you all

James 4';7 Isaiah 59;19 Matthew 4;10 - 11 Eph 6;10 -11 Eph 5; 11 2 Corinthians 2;1 1 Peter 5;8-9 1John 5;4 and Romans 8; 33

For me to answer this question begs another question:

Who is ultimately responsible for my personal salvation?

The person having the responsibility has the authority to give/take.

The scripture that always comes to me is "HE is the author and finisher of our faith".

God want's your best (effort) against sin, but none of are, or can become completely sinless, God knows each one's own individual ability (against sin) because some are more able and less able, and he (God) knows each one's limitations, and he knows whether or not each one is giving it his or her best, according to each one's ability (against sin) God want's your best, and he knows those who are giving it there best (again within each ones ability, which God knows) from those who are not, and if your not even "trying", God knows that too, and I believe that, yes, if your not even trying, then it is possible to "fall from grace"

God Bless!

Why is there a throne of judgement, if it is already a done deal that one is saved?
We can understand this provided we are clear that there is one judgment for sins, and another for works after a sinner is saved.

The judgment for sins was executed at the Cross for the one who obeys the Gospel. Christ took that judgment upon Himself since "He was made sin for us who knew no sin". Therefore sinners are saved by grace through faith.

The judgment for works is executed in Heaven in order to give out the appropriate rewards. These are rewards for faithful service to Christ (or no rewards for no service). The Judgment Seat of Christ is strictly for the saved. The Great White Throne judgment is strictly for the lost.
