When did lifting up Christ alone for salvation become 'venom' to you? You should re-think your position!

Thanks redd. It's offensive when people launch attacks at the message of those lifting up Christ alone for salvation. Especially when the attackers claim to represent Him!

I can take the insultuous comments from them. But we're not 'rugs' to be walked on by those calling the message of Christ 'venom'.

By your own words you have told us that you LEFT the SDA church a long time ago, even though you retain your name 'on the books'. Isn't that a bit like running away from home but keeping a picture of your mother in your pocket--just in case?

I for one totally understand and believe that our salvation is based COMPLETELY on the sacrifice of Christ at Calvary. I cannot add to it or detract from it. So why do you keep acting as though YOU are the only one who understands this concept?

Of course there are legalists in the SDA church. There are legalists in EVERY denomination because there has been and always will be that segment of mankind that has to justify themselves thru their own efforts. These are they that are 'offended' by the Cross of Christ.

But PLEASE stop assuming that because I reject most what you think you have discovered apart from Adventism, that I don't know my LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ. And you really need to stop assuming that ALL the trads are imbeciles in need of your tutoring. For this is NOT the case.

I do not accept your shame. I did not subvert your words. My time spent here on this forum is for the purpose of directing people to Christ alone for salvation ('lifting up Christ'). It is evident in virtually all of my posts. So when you said:

By my own words I have openly admitted that I resigned over these very issues.
By my own words I have openly admitted that I still hold membership in the SDA church.
By my own words I have openly admitted that I still hold valid SDA credentials as a minister and teacher.

You can try to use my words against me, but I would rather you use them to lift up Christ alone rather than lash out at those you do not like.

I haven't run away from home. Instead I ran home to Jesus Christ, who is my everything. I haven't spent 4 decades in a sectarian sub-culture to deny who and what I am. I am a product of the Seventh-day Adventist church through and through. But, in spite of that, I have discovered that my identity and value are in Christ alone, a much more (completely) secure source to draw identity and value from. I boast ONLY of Jesus Christ and him crucified. The rest means nothing, and like Paul, I count it as garbage so that I may have Christ and become one with Him.

Why would finding identity and value in Christ alone be something I 'discovered apart from Adventism'? I discovered it IN Adventism, which is why I've made the decisions I've made through MUCH study, prayer, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I did not assume that you don't know Jesus Christ. In spite of the doctrinal conundrums in Adventism, I still found Christ. I make no assumptions about what you know or don't know of Jesus.

If what you say is followed through and truly believed, then it means something, but without following what it stands for, then it is just a meaningless slogan....

If I say I like a certain political group, let say its Castro's Revolution in Cuba and give a cheer of 'Forward with the Revolution' at the rallies in Havana, then go home and tell everyone how we need to overthrow the 'Revolution and its founder', my cheer or slogan doesnt mean much does it.........

Only if more is required. Not all support requires active involvement on the part of those who give that support. For example, supporters of a boxer are not expected to step into the squared circle to give support. You need to demonstrate the need for this "extra" before you call for it.

My words in my post were direct and with intent. I make no bones about Who I stand for, whether I'm posting on these boards, or talking to someone on an airplane, or reading Scripture to my kids. I am a Christian and nothing I experience in life or do is separate from Christ. My absolute screwups take place in full view of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and inside the relationship he has with me (he lives IN me! as promised! and his promises are true!). He knows me better than I know myself, and he is my victory over sin and death. All my eggs are in One basket, and it's Jesus Christ.
