Can someone help with Hebrew translation?

My daughter is trying to write a letter and she wants to know how to say in Hebrew "I appreciate you" and "Thank you for everything you've done".

She really only needs the transliteration.

How important is the original translation need?

It's strange, I've never heard "I appreciate you" in Hebrew. Multi-Elis, is there an equivalent?

I would use "na'im meod lehakir otchah/otach".

That means litteraly "I really appreciate you". But I wouldn't say that. It sounds bad. Reading from the "spirit" of the sentances for which the translation was asked, I suggest this:

אני מעריכה את מעמציך ומודה לך מאוד
בתודה
*Signed*

Which literally means:

I appreciate your efforts and thank you very much.
In thanks,
*signed*

Second opinions? After all I wasn't the best in composition class. I'll look for a second opinion myself. But if any one has other suggestions, maybe you've had to write formal letters in hebrew for things other than exams, and can shed insight.

Neither have I. You could say it but it would sound strange. It would sound normal for a teacher to say it to a brilliant student, or a girl friend reassuring her boyfriend if it is no longer clear they respect each other, but I would avoid it in a letter.

Terribly sorry, I didn't see this thread till this morning. I was away at another couple's house last night for dinner and only responded quickly to a few posts before I took off.

Toda Rabba (or rav todot) would mean 'thank you very much' (Toda...the stress is on the last syllable, "da"). I'm not really sure how to say "I appreciate you"... Tov, toda would be "Well, thank you". The plural of today is Todot.

a little fyi... to say "I love you":
Ani ohev otach (male to female)

Ani ohevet otach (female to female)
Ani ohevet otcha (female to male)

My all time favorite is: Ani l'Dodi v'Dodi li - "I am my Beloved's and my Beloved is mine "

Another, less common way to say toda rabba in Modern Hebrew is hen hen (grace grace), which also appears in the Bible

hen hen lah (Grace, grace to it (a stone)) (Zech. 4:7).

I know I'm not of much help, but maybe some of this can be used? Though I'm no where near R. Cohen... he might be the best to ask for some of the more complex translations, ect. I really don't know quite how to say "I appreciate you", though I'm sure there must be an appropriate translation some how.

the first part of that is based on Isaiah 52 but it is skipping around in the chapter a little.

The next verse is not any particular scripture..but it comes from the book of Jonah when he was headed the wrong direction.

That was the easiest part to translate, when I had the refrence. The second part of this song I dare not translate becuase I do not have the reference for it, it isn't Isaiah 52. I can guess what it would be (Tagel ha aretz... ki nikhem adonai et amo yisrael...) but I want to be sure of it. So I'll either look it up tomorrow, if I have time, or else wait 'till someone else looks up the refrence ansd translates it.​

By the way, notice the accents. very important. I used a ' to indicate a sheva (short i) and to indicate glotal stops (is that what they are called?). I used a ^ to indicate the accent.​

Reading this, I remembered how my father translated the song "how lovely are the feet of him who brings good news..." strait from the Bible, along with other songs, so that when I was four, I thought that the old testament was a book of songs and I wanted my father to sing me another song from the Book...​
