Can people who disagree on abortion stop attacking each other?

@ChristianForCats now that we have a definitive answer that we cannot have this discussion in the manner called for in the OP, what's the point here? Where do you imagine this is going?

The definitive answer is abortion opponents are completely unwilling to face the grim reality about girls and women needing abortions and support them. Anyone who truly cares about these people would have answered all of my "What is your plan?" questions. Instead all they do is dodge them. This thread will go nowhere until every abortion rights opponent tells me a detailed plan for how the federal and state governments should make sure every pregnant American citizen who is considering an elective abortion will get the help that she needs before and after childbirth. Until all of those problems are solved, the constitutional right to have an abortion will trump God's Word that abortion is murder in the minds of very desperate people who are stuck with unwanted pregnancies.

Then it's going nowhere. Thanks for coming everyone.

I think we pretty well know it's not getting resolved quickly.

I think it will in time though.

At the moment - there seems to be considerable friction even over the language used. This might indicate lots and lots of confusion over the subject and half built ideals??
As the concepts round out in time, in peoples minds, and the subject works it's way into peoples experience more - the friction will likely blend out a little. A more common principle will probably emerge.

Doubt it.

That's your view?

You agree with the list posted?? No additions no removals??
My view is that the woman gets to make the choice for herself for whatever reason as it's none of my business.

So basically - you make abortion available to all women and don't ask questions or get involved??

Yes. Just as I don't get involved in the medical decision making of others for any other procedure.

What are some example of other reasons?

How about being a full-time college student whose tuition is paid for by a loan, a part-time job, and her parents? She obviously can't take care of a baby without quitting both school and work altogether and moving back to her family's house. This is a perfectly legitimate reason to have an abortion. If you can think of ways to prevent that from happening, let me know.

Don't tell me it is as simple as not having sex. She could have gotten pregnant despite using contraception.

In your view - should abortion be on the table at any point during pregnancy, for any reason at all, or, for no reason at all if thats what she wishes?

You think abortion should be allowed for financial reasons?

After the baby is born, no new mom wants to kill it. Women only want to kill them before birth.

When I talk about the Golden Rule, I am strictly discussing how we must treat the pregnant girls and women who suffer because of their unwanted pregnancies and those who had abortions because they needed them. Why is that so hard to understand?

It makes absolutely no sense that anyone ever thought for one second about applying it to unborn babies.
So you do not agree that unborn babies are created in the image of God and should be treated as such?

You keep acting as if the mother is the only human involved and consistently ignore that every abortion kills a human being. So the question is: why do you respect some humans (mothers) but not others (unborn babies)?

I'm largely in agreement with the trimester framework laid out in the Roe ruling as far as how the state should be involved.

I don't know it but I assume it says after [x] - aborting the pregnancy is no longer allowed?

What do you think is the difference after [x] ???

What do you want??

In an ideal world?

You think abortion should be allowed for financial reasons?

In my example, it is about everything. She has no time, money, skills, house, or husband to help. She can't get a living wage job because that requires completing college - which, of course, requires spending her entire day in classrooms and doing homework. When can she breastfeed a baby? When can she play with him or her? Does she even have the ability to manage child care with someone else during work hours? There is a very good chance she can't take one to a daycare center. And going to college part time is not an option for her.

I am waiting for someone to explain how women in this situation can avoid having abortions without turning their lives upside down.

Let me make one thing clear: I am not saying women in this position should get abortions. My point is in this situation, electing to have an abortion is completely justified in the absence of a federal or state program to take care of everything at no cost to her unless she is married to the baby's father.
