a man (why would a woman ask about wearing a hat?) and in all situations
Wear a hat if you want or need to. It used to be normal to wear a hat and to take it off indoors. Times have changed. I wear a hat in summer here because otherwise I get fried. I prefer not to wear one indoors. It's a matter of choice. If wearing a hat offends people in your church, I would take it off then.

1 Corinthians 11:
2 I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. 3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[a] and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

7 A man ought not to cover his head,[b] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own[c] head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

I just bought a hat and now dont know if i can wear it. What do you guys think?
The Scriptures are addressing praying or prophesying with your (male) head covered.

Christians have historically accepted that a man should not cover his head, when praying or prophesying.
(this is why men take off their hats, in certain situations.)

It does not address whether wearing a hat is acceptable, in other situations.

thanks for the response, it's been a while since I posted this. I basically decided not to wear a hat cause I pray a lot and it's just tiresome to constantly take it off and put it on.

I agree with this general tenant. Paul is addressing prayer, not daily wear or activity. As soon as the prayer is complete, you may resume wearing your hat.

It has been a generally accepted practice that men remove their head coverings while praying or even asking the blessing over food. But it has nothing to do with activities outside of prayer itself. It is just a sign of reverence to the majesty and Holiness of the Creator and a recognition to the authority God gave man.

The general consensus is that nothing should come before or cover man when he is speaking or communicating with the Creator who put man as caretaker and keeper of the earth. The women are under the authority of God's place that he gave them so they should cover their heads when praying. But Paul also stated a woman's hair is a covering as well.

Probably has a lot to do with where you live in the world and general customs. In the United States, men wearing ball cap type hats is very common.

The ball cap is more common in the midwest, not so much in other parts of the country.
