Can I ask God to avenge my enemies?
David did it. His psalms many contains contents of asking for revenge.
So, it is justified to ask God avenge my foes.
You can do that, but since this is "Christian Advice" I'd advise that Jesus said on the cross with full justification to curse all of humanity to say instead "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."

But David didn't have Jesus' words about forgiving your enemies.

What are you asking God for; to deal justly with your enemies, i.e if they have broken the law to make sure they get caught and imprisoned, or to inflict injury on them because they have hurt you?

Yes, I used to think just like you. But I now realize that all such thoughts are a heavy burden on my heart, mind, soul and spirit. The Lord's yoke is light. Also it might be damaging for your body as well as negativity could release toxic chemicals into your body. No wonder the Lord said I will take care of it, you go about doing good.

The OT was a time of an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.
I see that in the Old Testament we have object lessons of how things work without Jesus.

But now we have Jesus.

“ Vengeance is Mine—- “ I” shall repay”......
And I would say the perfect revenge is for an enemy to become adopted to become our own brother or sister in Jesus. This way the evil person has died and God has a new child of God who will become conformed to the image of His Son. And this person will help to stop the evil of Satan's kingdom, and the person will be an example to win people to Jesus and help us grow in Christ.

The revenge, then, needs to be against evil, and this with our Heavenly Father being prospered to have another child of God.

The only place that I’m aware of where The Word of God shows a bit of humor follows;
Mark.3

  1. [17] And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

  1. The brothers wanted Christ to rain down death and destruction on some who were probably less than kind to the group. Remember that vengeance belongs to God The Father. The Good Lord has caused me great terror and I know that His vengeance is complete. From The Word, note both the goodness and severity of our Lord.
Rom.11
  1. [22] Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

you can ask... but once you do, you've just identified a mission that you refuse to go to. Now don't be surprised when God calls you to that mission.

I try to follow the Sermon on the Mount and bless enemies. Treat them as equals. Knowing God controls them for my good. I've seen bad things happen to them. And the trouble they cause to dissipate in a short time.

yes and no

In a general sense yes .... in a specific sense no.

Who are your foes? ie if you are asking God to invoke His revenge on "Bob" then no ..... if you are asking God to avenge wickedness or certain wicked acts in general then yes .... and in the end He will in fact do that ... and if "Bob" doesn't turn to the Lord then He will be in the group the Lord invokes His revenge (wrath) on (the sinful lost) when He returns.

In the meantime .... you should be praying for "Bob" to come to the Lord. If "Bob" commits an offense .... you are to forgive him.

I have to ask God execute justice on my enemy.
Christ forgave on the cross, what greater example is there? The enemy is our enemy, people are our mission.

Wanting vengeance is a form of hate but hate is like a powerful acid --- it corrodes the container in which it is stored as much as the object on which it is poured. Aside from that, can we ask God to ask God to do the avenging for us and become complicit in our hatred? I don't think God works that way.

Yes, just remember that we do not struggle with flesh and blood.

Is this a literal threat against your life?
I would suggest praying for protection, forgive and pray your enemies will come to Christ. It is okay to pray for deliverance however the Lord sees fit to being that about.

Did David walk a perfect walk? We should be praying that our enemies come to the truth.

Didn't David also have mercy on his enemies? Do you suppose YHWH was merciful toward David's missteps?

YHWH calls us to be merciful.

(CLV) Mt 5:7
"Happy are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.

We should treat others as we wish to be treated.

King James Bible
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

We are not to take pleasure in the downfall of our enemies.

Proverbs 24:17-18

English Standard Version

17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,
18 lest the Lord see it and be displeased,
and turn away his anger from him.

You can ask God anything you want to. But is it the right thing to ask?

And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” Luke 9:52-56 (NKJV)
