Yes. God says vengeance is His because He knows so much more about the situation that we do. And He is far, far better at it than our paltry efforts would be.

However, when we ask for vengeance against our enemies, we also need to remember who our actual enemies are. Ephesians 6:12. THAT is where the battle is. So yes, pray for vengeance, not against flesh and blood but against the satanic forces involved. Pray salvation for the person that their actions came through.

I think the whole idea of "enemies" (which was spoken so much in Davids Psalms), was to establish the driving force in us to strive to be a better people. Because until we get to Heaven where we all agree with each other and there are no more fights, we are going to have disagreements and resentment with people. Along the way we are going to acquire "enemies" whether we admit it or not. So to pray for our enemies is such a Godly thing.

I remember Paul and Jesus warning people not seek revenge by saying do on to others as you wish others to do to you.

that's a mighty quote. When i was a sinner i heard it many times from people, but only quoted, "do onto others as you wish others to do unto you". I know this saying can be twisted by man/satan, so much so, that people begin to believe:-

its fine to punch someone who has punched you,

take your revenge upon someone who has harmed you,

kill someone who has killed a family member/an organisation of yours/a person belonging to your community,

set a bomb somewhere to kill people you suspect has set a bomb onto your family/communityetc,

join the army to fight a war against a nation who is fighting a war against you.

God Bless you mathinspiration.

The Lord told us to exhort, correct, and rebuke those in sin; so I do not think it is wrong to pray that the Lord would convict and rebuke them; but as for vengeance? God said vengeance is His, He will repay. So, in one essence, He already promised He would take vengeance; but we should not be vengeful in our actions any more than correcting with Scripture.

I believe convict relates to the sinner who doesn't know Christ personally, they know him but they may not have fully believed on him. Rebuke is correcting the Christian.

as Christians we can rebuke (correct other Christians) in a loving way, not in a way to make us feel better and leave that people in distress. Correct them using the scripture and comfort them, knowing you've done the Lord's work through Love.

Can I ask God to avenge my enemies?
David did it. His psalms many contains contents of asking for revenge.
So, it is justified to ask God avenge my foes.

This is really hard.
As you can see even some really terrible people can be brought back to God, and in that case they became your brother/sisters. The most famous one is Paul.

But God also tell us to hate evil and this world.

So I would say if you are asking God to punish your enemy so they can turn from their evil ways, that is fine.

If you just ask God to punish them to revenge you, that will be bad, as if you don't forgive someone God won't forgive you, as we are all sinners.

Basically it is all depend on intention, which only God and you know :)

You can ask God to avenge your enemies. Don't be surprised if he starts with the ones in your own heart.

Your post reminds me of Isaiah. He began his prophecy, woe is this, woe is that, woe to you all....When the Lord spoke to Isaiah personally, he started to look at himself.

Isaiah 6:5 “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”
