I guess the question is, did God "cause" a third of the heavenly host to sin against Him and follow in Satan's footsteps, or are the fallen angels at fault because they freely chose to disobey Him

I believe the latter is the case.

    Greetings, he-man.
Agreed. The same argument could be made concerning mankind. Were Adam and Eve created evil? I don't see anything in the creation account to justify believing that. It is only after they fell that evil entered the world, and mankind began to practice murder. But surely there are evil men and women in the world today (I'm assuming I wouldn't have to give examples). Yet just because they choose to become evil through their own freewill, this is not a proof that God created them that way.

So the question becomes, do we believe angels have freewill.

If fallen angels do not have free will, how can they possibly be judged and condemned by God? What would He base His judgment and condemnation of them on?

    Thanks!

Angels do not die, being of God's nature, they cannot die. Seeing that sin brings death, it follows therefore that they cannot sin. Angels are messingers or servants of God, obedient to Him , therefore it is impossible to think of them as being sinful. The Greek word aggelos (angels) is also translated as messingers when speaking of human beings: Matthew 11:10 and his (JOHN'S) messengers, Luke 7:24 and the messengers of Jesus, Luke 9:52 ; and the men who spied out Jerico, James 2:25; It is, of course, possible, that "angels" in the sense of human messengers, can sin.
It follows therefor that all the Angels (not just some of them) are by nature obedient to God, and therefore cannot sin. Psalms 103:19-21 (there can be no rebellion against God in heaven) [belief.net] Mark 12:25 Angels do not die and we shall be like them.

Do you believe in the afterlife, and the immortality of the human soul?

Mark 12:25 should answer your question. Eccelesiastes 12:7 The (Soul) Spirit returns to God and the soul which is thehuman body returns to dust.

The reason I was asking is because if the human soul doesn't die then there's not really much difference between them and angels, since angels never attain to flesh. The spirit never truly dies in either case.

Job 34:14-15 ...if He gather unto Himself His Spirit and His breath, all flesh shall perish together, and man shall return to dust again. Now back to the topic "Can Angels Sin" Seeing that sin brings death, it follows therefore, that Angels cannot die.

Genesis 6 tells us that the Sons of God, also referred to as angels, had sexual relations with women.

Yes, they can sin and some of them have sinned

Also, Psalm 82 gives a glimpse into God's heavenly council where the sons of God, also called gods/Elohim, were sentenced to death for their behavior

God alone is the source of immortality, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't created other immortal beings/angels

Psalm 82 says "you are gods, but will die like men". This is obviously not about humans because you would not tell a human, which die, that "you will die like men". Some of the angels lost their immortality, which came from God.
