I doubt that they do, but that wouldn't really be a religious issue, would it?

Quartz crystals were used in early radios, and also wristwatches. This does not mean they have any supernatural powers, any more than the silkcon used in semiconductor manufacture.

I have a few crystals myself. Been a long time since I've looked at them. I always thought of them as beautiful creations of God. I am partial to believing they have a mostly untapped source of power, but as much as I may or may not believe that, I haven't tried to experiment, not even constructing a crystal radio receiver.
Maybe it's that we've been using the word power in all of this. Crystals obviously have some special properties, but that's not to say they can affect the supernatural realm (which I now see is just about the same thing Wgw wrote a few moments earlier. ;))

Hi, I was wondering if crystals are mentioned in the Bible and is it ok for a Christian to collect them?

I apologise if there's already a thread about this.

Many thanks.

If you believe the crystals have occult or supernatural power, this is not compatible with Christianity; it is also untrue, and people who pedal crystals for medicinal purposes are con artists and scammers.

On the other hand, if your interest is aesthetic or geological, feel free, although one should not collect crystals to the exclusion of buying neccessities or charity. Better to acquire treasure in Heaven.

*It's OK to collect things, just don't worship/idolize
whatever you collect...

Crystals are mentioned in the Bible...example:
Job 28:19
Exodus 39:10-13

Defined, what is a crystal...

I even cut down all the bushes around my property because demons like to hide in bushes.
I hope you waited until they were out of office before cutting them .......

I thought the hedges were meant to protect your property not hiding places for demons unless you deliberately stowed idols inside them.

Didnt Job have a hedge of protection around him which got breached when satan decided to attacked his family? He had prospered BECAUSE of the hedge that God had placed around him. You cant expect to be protected with no boundaries.

Not a hedge. Individual bushes.
It was a joke. It was a reference to the phrase, "there's a demon behind every bush", which is a type of fearing the unknown. Sorry I caused confusion. Please forgive me.

Jobs downfall was related to pride, he was self righteous. But he repented in sackcloth and ashes.
That wasn't my take.
The book says he was righteous.
It says Job's troubles were instigated by Satan's false accusation that prosperity and comfort was the basis of his piety. His washcloth and ashes were his assertion of humility before God.
The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Job blessed the Lord despite his agony.

Everyone collects different things. Nothing really wrong with it unless its occult in nature. Like if you liked to collect pentagram paintings or voodoo dolls.

I used to collect crystals because of how beautiful they were. Then I got into "geodes". Which are like rocks but when you crack them open you get amazing crystals inside. And since no one knows what is in them, its always a surprise what you may get. The one I cracked open at a fair, the formation and crystal type inside was so "amazing" that people that seen me crack it open offered me money to have it. ^_^

yes but Job actually was showing he was self-righteous. If you read the story. Satan wouldn't have been able to touch him if Job truly knew God. Job was doing his best to be religious. It was actually a test for Job. Which he came through thankfully. It was only when Elihu who pointed this out to Job did he decide to repent. see Job 34:5
Yes Job was perfect and upright, but Job failed to give glory to God for this. Some people will say they themselves are righteous when in truth we are only righteous because of God.
See Job 35:2

Sorry, don't mean to bring up this thread again. It has nothing to do with crystals.

People who wear amethysts and diamonds and other jewels are collecting crystals. The Bible never speaks out against any of the earth's rocks and the High Priest in the Temple wore 12 colors of them. However, be careful. Some use crystals with evil intent. The Bible says "Do not give even the appearance of evil."

Crystals are natural. If you think they're pretty and simply want to have a few because they're nice to look at, then go for it. If you're into that crystal healing stuff, then you need to rethink what you're doing.
