  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you know the relatives are not?

Why does it matter? The person before you said she could not do anything about it? There is a predestinated time for their salvation according to her and if they are elect they will meet that destiny.

We know not who the elect are.. It is not up to us to make a jugdment on who is the elect and who is not the elect.. We are just told to preach Christ and Him crucified to the saving of the soul.. We don't save them God does.. We just preach.. What do you do JDS? Do you preach any differently? Do you preach Christ and Him crucified to the saving of the soul?

Who are you to tell me what I "must" do? Why do you attempt to sit in judgment over me? Deny it all you want, everyone here can see that is EXACTLY what you're doing.

There is nothing inconsistent with Calvinist or any other theology in saying that Jesus Christ died and rose again to save sinners.

I agree completely and thats probably a good way of teaching as not to turn people off

Fate and destiny are not scriptual words.. This is left up to chance and not the Sovereignty of God.. He has not fell off His throne and left all things up into the air for chance to take over. ^_^

^_^ How can we go to a man that knows not Christ and preach anything but Christ? Christ is the focal point of the entire scripture.. This is why we preach Christ Crucified and Risen..

That is not what you have been saying! You have been saying that pre-election is the focal point of scripture and one who is not elect is uneffected by the crucified and risen saviour, his destiny being fixed. (Fatalism).

No that is what you have been saying.. All scripture leads to the Knowledge of God and His Christ and my Father and My Lord..The scripture is not about men.. The scripture is about Christ. The elect are those whom God has called, Chosen, Justified,glorified.. Christ is the door.. No man comes to the Father except through Him. No man comes to Christ unless the Father draws Him..

All the elect are sinners.

There is no necessity to insert the word "some" because the issue is not the extent of the salvation but the condition and destiny the elect have been saved from.

I am motivated by fear of God to preach the Gospel to sinners, all kinds of them, every one of them because wrath is coming.

It is not the extent, you say? The "L" in TULIP means "LIMITED", friend.

Where do you get the distinction in "sinners"? Do you have cathegories of sinners now?

Because wrath is coming?

On whom? the elect? On the unelect? Isn't that why God created them?

You are bringing in some new stuff here, friend.

You don't say that Christ died to save "some" sinners? You must make this distinction unless you believe "sinners" is another term for the "elect".

depends who your talking to , to the lost it's just sinners.

When one is born again the the scriptures lead those whom are His into all truth. There is milk of the word and there is meat of the word.. It is a growing process in the Spiritual Kingdom just as it is in the human kingdom.. So when one is born again and starts to grow in the Knowldge of God the Father ones comes to understand Him through His word and the Teacher that resides in His Children.

Well, did he die for sinners or just the elect? Or are you saying the unelect are not sinners after all?

those who are converted are called to make their calling and election sure , those unconverted have a very different proposition , each in there own order.

It is limited to those whom God has Chosen. Not all men are Chosen..

The scriptures can have no effect on the unelect, according to you, because the unelect cannot believe them, remember? Therefore, the scriptures do not lead to the knowledge of Christ for the majority of people on the planet.

Do you know your own doctrines?

Are you suggesting that in order to preach the Gospel a Calvinist must say, "Repent and believe, just in case you're elect"? Why would we introduce terms having to do with the extent when the only concern is to indicate the condition?

No there are no categories of sinners, we are all sinners, elect and reprobate alike, there is no difference.

The Gospel is preached in fear of the wrath coming against the wicked. This is why we say repent and believe.

Frankly, this issue of election and who is elect and who is not and so on have nothing to do with the presentation of the Gospel. It is broadcast because it is the ordinary means by which sinners are saved(yes, "some" sinners if you like, though I am still puzzled as to why this would need to be included in an earnest call to believe).

Nothing new here.

The atonement is limited to the elect, we don't know who the elect are, so we preach to everyone.

You apparently did not read the gentlemans comments. Here they are:
