Ok, silly me, I posted earlier - must have found it by accident. I'm only a little crazy you know.

Favorite Doctor is John Pertwee, favorite villian is The Master, of course. I do have a soft spot in my heart for the Dalicks (exterminate...exterminate!!!)

Favorite assistant is harder - I would say, either Sarah Jane Smith or Aldrich (I think I spelled his name correctly).

My favorite episode is Talons of Weng Chiang (I know that's a Tom Baker episode).

I was disappointed with that Dr. Who attempt by Fox. He kissed his assistant! That's just wrong. Half the excitement of many of the episodes is the sexual tension (or lack thereof).

A bit off the subject, are any of you Blakes 7 Fans? I heard there is a miniseries being produced this summer, but Paul Darrow isn't going to be involved. I'd love for those episodes to come out on DVD. Now that I'm a bit older, I want to re-watch them again to hopefully better understand the underlying social commentary, that I just didn't get as a 13 year old.

edited to say: I see we have a Liberated Lutheran among us. Hi Bohemian!

My boyfriend is a HUGE fan. To be honest, I haden't heard of Dr. Who until we met!
He has some old VHS recordings that are so over-played they get fuzzy in parts and the sound is horrible... yet he watches them all the time still.
I would love to find some good quality copies for him. Will be checking out the BBC site someone posted here... cheers Mate!

Tom Baker/Sarah Jane fan reporting in here. Just found this thread and will catch up on the other posts later.

I was also mostly disappointed in the Fox movie (but not in Paul McGann, who would've made a great doctor if he'd been given a decent script). Didn't like the Dr/companion romance OR the Dr-is-half-human nonsense because they just weren't authentic Who.

Favorite villain: Lady Adrasta. She was just so over the top.

Favorite episode? Undecided, but my here are my top picks:
1) Face of Evil (witty dialogue, plus interesting if unorthodox theological ideas)
2) Anything with Sarah Jane
3) Delta and the Bannermen (I get such a kick out of those aliens singing "Rock Around the Clock" on their way through space and time to visit Disneyland!)

Welcome to all the new contributors to the forum, nice to see so many interested.

I have been watching some of the old Tom Baker episodes...sorry he was the Doctor for me. They are pretty scary some of them...City of Death...some scary one eyed monster! No wonder I was terrified as kid!

In the early days yes. It was meant be educational as well as entertaining but the BBC worked out that it was far more entertaining.

I think there have been a few controversial issues with what happened on the show. The question of "Should we be allowing out children to watch this?" I think the fact that it was scary was what made it so appealing to children.

Tom Bakers era was very gothic and dark but very entertaining. he had some great scripts to work with.

"Are you in charge?"
DR "No but I have some very good ideas."

"Dont ask me I never do."

"but thats not ..."
DR "Human? but I'm not human"

Dr "aaah"
Torturer..."but I haven't started yet."
DR "you have cold hands"

Dr "I can give you the ultimate weapon...peace"

"Oh look rocks"

A Blast from the Past.
I use to watch it MANY years ago.

I did like it alot.
I did not realize it was still around.

My next personal website project is going to be "Down Memory Lane".
I am amazed at how many shows we watched growing up have websites.
I plan to link to them. And I would have missed this one. Thanks.

I LOVE this show! It was kinda cheesy...but that's what you get with a little budget. I'm really looking forward to the new Doctor. Didn't care too much for the Americanized 1 time show...I love Sylvester and thought he got ripped off.Favorite Dr. is by far Tom Baker...although Sylvester McCoy comes in at a close second. Favorite companion is K-9! Least favorite companion would be Chameleon. Favorite bad guy...the Master, of course!:)

Wow someone remember Chameleon the robot....he didnt have much of an outing as a companion really though I think he got mentioned in few of the Missing adventure books.

There was a rumour that the BBC were thinking about making D9 (from Robots of Death) a companion but that never panned out. That would have been interesting.

Him and Ace were underrated. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see too many episodes with them, because that's when my local PBS had to cancel it because the cost of getting the series was getting higher.

Our local Dr. Who fan club was called the CIA - It's been so long, that I forgot what the letters stood for - not the spy agency. They were pretty intense, which is why I never joined. They were the ones who asked Janet Fielding how she felt, while walking down a hallway in a 2 second shot in some episode, that has nothing to do with anything. That sort of thing.

I think they meet at a local Barnes & Noble now, I'll have to look it up sometime soon to get the acronym.
