Love your CF character/name/look! My brother knitted his own scarf a looooong time ago. (Wonder if I could dig it up?)

~Witness

I would learn to knit to make my own scarf. Thank you.

Here you are!

And if you want to learn to knit... here you are :)

Hi all, I'm another Aussie - my sister downloads the series from english friends every week, and then buys the box set as soon as it comes out over here - a rabid fan. (Her room is covered in Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant pictures and posters!)

Personally I like the catfight between the Cybermen and the Daleks in the most recent season shown here, it's much quoted in my family.

"Identify"
"You identify first"
"Daleks do not take orders" (or something similar to that, can't remember the exact line)
"You have identified as DALEK"
you can just sense the 'drat' or more coarse language thought by the daleks!

and

"Cybermen are superior to Daleks in one way"
"What is that"
"You are better at dying"

I have a soft spot for the daleks - they're scary and evil, but I still like them.

What I don't understand is, since the Doctor has a time machine, why doesn't he just go back in time to before Gallifrey was destroyed if he wants to go home? (Then he can pick up a Time Lady and make some Time Children, and recreate the species. ;) )

And speaking of which, when did Gallifrey get blown to bits? I don't remember that.

A new Dawn,

Gallifrey we are told was destroyed during the great time war between the Daleks and the Timelords. The 9th Doctor refers to it regularly during series 2. This has never been shown on screen but has happened at some point in the Doctor's recent past.

As for the Doctor going back and preventing it I think there are some things he can't fix. We see various points in the Doctor's history where he is given the opportunity to prevent certain events occurring (Genesis of the Daleks comes to mind) and chooses not to as he is more than aware of the long term effect of his actions

"... races could be allies because of the Daleks...do I have the right?" or something like that. We also saw what he thought of Rose saving her dad when he should have died and what happened there. It may be that he can't go back. Perhaps changing a single event in his own timeline will cause catastrophic consequences (like the Daleks winning the time war!)

its a theory anyway ;)

It's good to know I didn't miss it.

I wasn't necessarily thinking of having him stop whatever happened, just steal someone to procreate the species with. :o

I think at some point it was stated that Gallifrey was kind of outside of time. So I kinda thought that if it is gone, it is not in the time stream to go back to. Plus he would not go back and save Adric as the 5th Doctor because it would change everything. And it has been hinted he can not change things he is directly involved in. I think that was talked about in the episode with Rose's father.

But since Daleks upon Daleks survived I would think it is possible a Time Lord or two might have. Plot wise the door for that is slightly ajar. The Master (though pretty well dealt with) is like a bad penny (in a few ways :)) And Romanna is in E-space.

But, isn't the Dr. Connected with the Matrix from when he was president. I would think it would kind of still be in his head in a way. That may be an interesting thing eventually if they want to bring Gallifrey back in some form. Ahhh...good Sci fi. Just enough plot holes to make it interesting. I love this show.

So my early birthday presents so far have been The Talons of Weng Chiang DVD and the Five Doctors Special edition DVD. Plus two seasons of Fr. Ted I did not have.

Funny, everything is a BBC DVD:)

I guess getting my Grandmother tea everyday in the afternoon must have had some effect on me.:)
