For me my first episode was pyramids of mars I remember watching it with my uncle and though I don't remember this my uncle told me I wouldn't stop asking questions. I guess it was the long scarf that struck me (years later I got the pattern off the internet and got my mother to knit me a copy)

I started watching during the 5th Doctor, with Tegan and Turlough, I'm thinking it was Mawdryn Undead.

My first exposure to Dr. Who, though, was in college. A friend had a few books, and we spent a weekend sitting (or lying) around in a dorm room trading books till we had read them all.

Mmm, it was definitely black and white, people were getting turned into starfish-like creatures, I remember trying to draw them! Anyone have a clue? It would have probably been the mid to late sixties, I have just the vaguest memory.

(The most recent series did well at the National TV awards: most popular actor, most poplar actress and most popular drama. There are more of us out there than we think!)

One would have to have a good memory (I happen to have The 5 Doctors just about memorized) but in The 5 Doctors, as they are approaching the Tomb of Rassilon, they are telling the story of the death zone, and the 2nd Doctor is singing a childs song he learned (as a child ;) ) that tells how to get into the tomb. It was the same language he used when talking to the group he was with telling them how to attack the Cybermen production plant.

(It was pretty oblique. :o )

Hmm sounds like the underwater menace but I can't be sure.
