Did you know that the voice of the beast was the same actor who played Sutekh in the Tom Baker story Pyramids of Mars? (his name escapes me at present!)

Did anyone recognise the sound effect in the background...the same effect is used in the computer game Doom (the old version not the new one!) for doors opening and closing...for those that have it.

I personally thought this episode and the second part were my favorites of this series.

Which episode are you talking about? The last one we saw was the woman talking from the TV.
I was talking about The impossible planet but obvioulsy you have not had that one yet. But you will enjoy it.

Incidentally did you know they filmed MAureen Lipman in the original tv studio at Crystal Palace where British TV originated.

There was also a cut scene where the Doctor stops by the TV mast and remarks..."I once fell off one" a link to the last episode of Tom BAker's Doctor who fell of a mast before he regenerated.

I thought the people without faces were pretty creepy and it was very clever.

aaronibus62, this site doesn't use html. If you see a post you want to quote, just click on "Post Quotes" in the bottom right hand corner of the post, and it will bring you to a reply screen that will already have the quoted statement surrounded by quote tags. If you just want to lift one statement in a post out to quote, copy it, and in the quick reply box, click on the quote bubble at the top of the reply box and paste the desired text in between the quote tags. Then just hit enter in between your paragraphs to separate them.

commericals are of the devil...we fear commercials...

I am reminded of one PBS pledgeathon where they were playing "The Five Doctors" and they broke in about every 15 minutes to beg...at one particularly tense point of the story they broke in and my friend grabs his father credit card...dials the number...and tells them he will pledge $500 if they will finish the show with no more interupions...while the lady was on camera you could see someone pass her a note...she read it...and she said, "and now back to Dr. Who"...the last 40 minutes of the program were uninterupted...

If the next episode of Torchwood is as bad as the last, Countrycide, I will have to stop watching! It was SCARY!!

OH I agree that was a scary episode and next weeks looks pretty good too. Mind you this is very much and adult show.

Oh my goodness, I remember those pledge breaks - Dr. Who would air on Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. on our local PBS station. Back then, that was a school night for me and I was in middle school. If they did pledge breaks during a Jon Pertwee episode, I would be up past 1:00 a.m. watching (mom and dad are big Who fans and were kind enough to let me stay up).

The only good thing about it was the nifty gifts you could get. Not everyone can say they have a TARDIS Key. :D Saved up my babysitting money for that.

Now, I volunteered to take calls during pledge breaks next Saturday night with some friends. No idea what's showing that night - not Dr. Who since the licensing fee went way up. Funny how the circle comes around.
