There aren't a whole heckuva lot of regenerations left and they are going through them rather rapidly. And there is no time lord society left to offer him the same deal they offered the Master (a whole new set of lives.)

well we still have 3 regenerations left (13 lives) so there are a few more years in the old Timelord yet. We have to hope the next one wont be a short stint. They are averaging about 3 years each at present.

1st Doctor.. Hartnell 1963 to 1966
2nd Doctor...Troughton 1966 to 1969
3rd Doctor...Pertwee 1969 to 1974
4th Doctor...Baker (T) 1974 to 1981
5th Doctor...Davidson 1981 to 1984
6th Doctor...BAker (C) 1984 to technically 1987 though he was sacked in 86 Mccoy is the only actor to have played the doctor as his 6th and 7th regeneration
7th Doctor...1987 to 1996 (if you include the time he was off the air!)
8th Doctor 1996 to 2006? (We don't actually know how long he had been in his 9th regeneration though he makes a comment about his appearance in Rose which suggests that it was recent.
9th Doctor 2006 to 2007
10th Regeneration 2007 to ......watch this space

Another excellent Christmas special.

"Oh I'm not a martian!" The Doctor

So far only one epsiode has been given a name the first episode of season 3 "Smith and Jones" and yes an old enemy will return.

Did you get any "Dr Who" presents this year?

I got the 2007 Dr Who calendar
A Dalek shaped shower gel
A dalek and TARDIS keyring
A talking Dalek pen
Behind the scenes Dr Who series 2 book
A Dalek toothbrush mug that lights up when you press the bottom.
"So you think you know Dr Who?" quiz book.
And of course series 2 (32) DVD boxed set...well worth it ...the outakes are hilarious

It was the only TV prog we watched on Christmas Day! And worth waiting for. It was action-packed and left me breathless. Catherine Tait was good as the bride, though I kept expecting her to turn into one of her comedy characters! It's nice that we at least get a white Christmas on the Dr Who Christmas special!

No Who pressies for me, no Doctor in my Christmas stocking, but DS got Daleks, model-making book and quiz book. He got a camcorder with which he has already started filming scenes with his Tardis. Russell T Davies look out!!

I just got the DVD of 'Genesis of the Daleks', which I asked for, a calender and two keyrings, but I don't have enough keys to use them. The Christmas special was mostly good, but relied too much on made up stuff, I thought. Still, it promised great things and I hope the third season will deliver them.

Hi all
I just came across this by accident. i am a fan also. I've never been to any conventions if there are/were any here in Oz but then I don't tend to go in for conventions anyway. I'll be keeping an eye out now for Dr Who threads. I have often in the past received Dr Who gifts. The problem in Oz is that (to the best of my knowledge) you can only get stuff from the ABC shops (shops of government owned broadcaster) and you have one person buying product for all the shops in Australia. As a result you only have the same offering and you can't order in particular episodes if they are available. I did get my brother to buy some for me and send them to me from Europe however. I don't trust online shopping sites either so that isn't an option for me.

anyway as an introduction I'll answer the questions asked in the OP.
Your favorite Dr
Tom Baker without a doubt.
Fav companion
Hard to say but Leela was always interesting to watch because of her characters lack of knowledge about technology.
I really didn't like Sarah Jane because of her screaming. Maybe script writers need to realise screaming just isn't good enough for companions. They need to do more.
K-9 was always a fave as well.

Fav bad guy(s)
I enjoyed alot of The Master episodes.
While I can't remember what they were called there were slug like creatures who were originally hatched out of an egg (although there were several different shows with creatures hatching from eggs!)
Fav story
I remember the key to time episodes and would like to see those again. Sadly when they started showing all the Dr Who shows (that hadn't been recorded over!) on TV here I was working and didn't really have time to watch recorded shows anyway.

I also enjoyed the series where they were in zero space although I can't remember what it was called. There were three different shows as part of the series the first being called "Full circle". edit to add: I have since found out this is called The E Space Trilogy

The genesis of the Daleks was good and learning about the race they came from the kelads who were supposed to be similar to the Nazis in character I'm guessing.

*****News Flash******

The british press are reporting that David Tennant has apparently told the BBC that he wants to leave the show during series 4 (season 34) so the hunt is on for the next Doctor. So far names like Robert Carlisle and David Morrisey have been mentioned.

In other news....Apparently the last episode of The vicar of Dibley will feature Daleks in the church.

For Christmas I got the Genesis of the Daleks and the two DVDs of rare episodes, one of William Hartnell and one of Patrick Troughton. Can't wait to rip them open and settle down for a long winter's watch. ;)

*******Spoiler alert*********
Some new info re season 3 is written below which can be read if you high light the section after "Spoiler" IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW DONT LOOK!

Current news is that Episode 2 of series 3 will be called the Shakespeare Code...probably the episode filmed at the Globe theatre in London. The Daleks will return apparently in a two parter where they will be in New York during the 1930s.

The BBC have launched another spinoff series featuring Sarah Jane called Sarah Jane Investigates so far only the Pilot has been shown with Sarah investigating a new Organic drink called Bubbleshock. Samantha Bond plays a very sinister Mrs Wormwood (moneypenny from the last James Bond film)

With Torchwood series 1 now concluded this new spinoff will begin in the spring....lets hope it lasts longer than "K9 and company" did.

Welcome to the Dr Who thread Thedag the best source I have found for merchandise is the Who Shop in London I believe they are also online too.
I don't trust online transactions. I'll just keep pestering my brother to buy them and post them to me here in Oz.

I prefer to hunt down all those episodes I am missing...I once found an original BBC video of Terror of the Zygons in a junk shop.

Welcome Texas, I now have all the regeneration episodes including the rare 1st to Second regeneration in black and white but with no sound.

Howdy. I love Dr. Who. I liked Tom Baker as the Doctor. But so far I am really liking how David Tennant is doing.

Favorite Bad Guy: The Master
Fav Story: Hard one...Genesis of the Daleks or The Invasion of Time.

I'm about to go to lunch, but what a great thread!

My favorite quote is from Tom Baker: "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they’re very sophisticated idiots"

It is the error message sound for my home PC :)
