Posting in fellowship, I'm honestly surprised the validity of Protestant baptisms isn't looked upon with more skepticism than it usually is. I've been told by Catholic priests both online and in person that they would receive a Baptist convert presuming her baptism to be valid as long as it was a Trinitarian baptism. I've seen Methodist ministers doing sort of "team baptisms" where multiple pastors will put their hands on the baby together and say "we baptize you..." which, as I understand it, would be considered invalid form.

I would say that in all but the most high church, traditional forms of Protestantism, the proper intent is probably not there.

This is a news flash for me. I did not know that baptisms with the intent of being a symbol only or "outward sign of an inward grace" were not technically valid.
