Good thread idea!

I am a member of 2 gun-rights organizations (NRA & Virginia Citizens Defense League), and I follow several others.

Goodyear tire company has opposed gun rights and banned guns from its stores in recent years. I don't know if they still do (I don't buy their tires anyway).

Much hubbub was raised a few years ago about Starbucks, but Starbucks didn't ban guns from their stores, they simply asked customers to not bring guns in - a small but important legal difference.

Same with Target (who used to sell ammunition).

The website Friend or Foe - Pro and Anti Gun Business Database lists businesses in your local area that are known to be friendly or unfriendly to guns, and you can add others into it.

We have a choice where we spend our money, and I believe we should vote with our dollars.

If I see a store that has a no gun sign (which in this state doesn't carry force of law) I can either carry anyway or I can not go in and go spend my money at a different place that doesn't try to block my rights.

Let me provide a heads up about Texas. If they have a sign that says no concealed carry and no open carry and you do it anyway, then the next step is for a representative of the store to verbally ask you to leave and remove your firearm. If you don't then the next step is Click Click and you are under arrest for criminal trespass and hello jail time and loss of your LTC for life if the DA so chooses. So don't play around in Texas. And if you do carry and something happens you best hope you can provide reasonable cause for the jury to believe you didn't see the signs because somebody opened the door in front of you. I am not an attorney, just a LTC who doesn't want to lose my paper permission nor do I want it for anybody else.

There's another side to this issue: companies that won't cave in to the anti's demands that they ban guns on their premises.

These include Kroger markets, who have bravely withstood the pressure from Bloomberg's..."mothers".

Kroger owns several grocery chains in several states; they're a large company.

Also WalMart. So far they say they go by what state law says.

To answer the one question, by false accusations that liberal judges do not question. Every Court should be force to record Judges in action so the public can see bad, poor one's in action.

If I may make a suggestion considering that this is a Christian forum, as Christians we are bound to certain behaviors which manifests Jesus Christ in our lives. First of all, with our right to carry comes a duty to respect others. Carrying anyway where a store asks you not to is not the way we serve Christ. However, protesting can be. If you carry into a store which has a sign in place and you pass that sign and then something happens inside the store..., anything that causes it to become exposed, then you have proven their point and you have not shown true Christian behavior. All without gaining anything. Take notice of all of the stores which have no gun signs and make a point of boycotting, blacklisting, even to the point of picketing with a legal permit. But just going against or passively walking away from them without gaining the right to carry inside their store is just spinning our wheels.

My Dr office has a sign that said "no guns" which I never paid attention too and one time when he ask me to drop my pants to check my upper thigh, "well he saw the handgun" loaded to the brim with with RIP's and he laughed and said well I guess we will make a note that you listen to door signs just like you listen to diet plans.
So he ask to see it and we discussed 9mm vs 380 and RIP rounds and so forth for a while. :D

Sounds like my doctor!

His medical corporation was briefly owned by a large anti-gun healthcare corporation, and the "no guns" signs went up, but they didn't stay up for long. And the corporation didn't own it for long.

A few months ago, my dentist's office plastered two large "Gun-Free Zone" signs on their front doors, but the signs are gone now. Maybe some of their patients left also.

I love Virginia!

My Dr. office has a no gun sign at the front but that is the building managements deal. He and his wife have western memorabilia all over his office and are both gun enthusiast as well. His Nurse Practitioners are too. We talk about hunting and different guns and hand loading every visit.

I agree with your first part, not so much your second part.

Private property is private property. If they're willing to serve you, but without your firearm, that's fully their legal and moral right (it's no sin off anyone else's nose), and they should not be subjected to harassment for exercising their legal and moral right. There's nothing Christian about that, either.

Of course, you can choose to refuse to patronize them, and advise your friends and acquaintances through non-harassing means, such as online reviews.

I rather like Texas' law because it provides a graduated situation. If I see a 30.07 sign (no open firearm, for you non-Texans), it means to me that they have thought about the situation and decided that they did want their customers to be armed...just concealed. That doesn't bother me because I believe concealed is of greater tactical advantage anyway.

If I see neither the 30.06 (no concealed firearm) nor the 30.07 sign (no open firearm), I don't know if that means they thought about it and don't care or if they simply haven't thought about it at all.

And if I see both the 30.06 and the 30.07, then I can choose to turn around.

I just learned from the Virginia Citizens Defense League that Capital One is denying credit services to certain merchants because of their gun-related businesses.

I quit Capital One a long time ago, due to their inaccurate and biased method for reporting customer's credit ratings. Now we have another reason.

When banks go bad, they usually go bad in many ways.
