  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

personal opinion here obviously...

I've not heard such a terrible band for a long time.

Their lyrics lack depth, use silly cliched phrases, use phrases with no obvious explaination("when I cross the river Jordan"... what does that mean???), they have average musical talent for a band(maybe slightly below average even), and the lead singers voice sounds like most other singer's voices.

I really don't get what's so great about them.

They're all right. I mean, if you got the tickets free, by all means go! It's not gonna be torture or anything. But I have to agree with most people here that they're pretty average-sounding. Glory Defined is OK--maybe it grew on me, they play it on the radio many times more than enough around here.

The concert was great! A lot better than their CDs. They've bumped their way up to the number 5 spot on my top 5. The first half was a pretty rough ride, ear splittin' music and I couldn't understand the lyrics, but they did do a lot of stuff with the audience which is always a good thing in a concert. After the intermission the lead singer apologized to anyone that didn't like the first half and hoped they liked the second part. They softened the music a tad and played some more of their more popular songs like Glory Defined and Space Inbetween Us. If they came back to my area I'd go again!

I've been listening to Building 429 for only a week now, and I find them quite amazing. I love their sound, and more importantly their lyrics ( which are great! ). If you get a chance to listen to them, don't miss out. My fav: Glory Defined and whatever the 5th track on their cd is called ;) Happy New Years everyone.
