  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The LORD doesn't call immersion after a woman's monthly period "ritual immersion," but that's what it is. Ritual is ritual.
It may be a ritual to you, but to me it is a very important duty for my health, both physically and spiritually. There is no ritual about it.

You think that ritual immersion is nothing more than taking a bath? It's a spiritual cleansing. It has nothing to do with cleaning our bodies. Thus, it is ritual.

"Ritual immersion in a mikveh - a gathering of living water (mayyim hayyim) - marks a change in status. People immerse at Mayyim Hayyim to celebrate moments of joy, to heal after times of sorrow or illness, or to commemorate transitions and changes." Using the Mikveh | Mayyim Hayyim

ritual .. meaningless movements and or words done on a regular basis
See! I *knew* you didn't understand what ritual is! Visionary, you have your own unique definition. The actual definition says nothing about it being meaningless. Indeed, ritual can be highly meaningful and bring us closer to the Lord. That's why I am trying to point out to you the ritual in your own life -- because I know how much it blesses you. :)

Sorry.. but kissing the toes of an image maybe a wonderful "ritual" and "highly meaningful" in what is thought to bring people closer to the Lord, but it is hogwash.. just a meaningless ritual.

Let's assume it is meaningless to you. Fine, then don't do it. That doesn't mean that you don't have highly meaningful rituals of your own.

Rituals are only highly meaningful to those who believe the delusion that it brings them closer to God, like God want some ritual prayer repeated over and over again by the masses.

The rituals you participate in, given by God to Israel, DO bring you closer to Him.

Since God commanded them, but gave no instructions on the rituals man has incorporated into them, they are not rituals.

Think of it. In Temple times, the sacrifices people brought were called korbanot. Korban (singular) mean 'to draw near!'
Wow!!!! I am TRYING to remember that tidbit. It would be great to pull it out next time someone says, "the only thing the law was good for was showing us what terrible sinners we are." Thanks brother!

You are not using the word "ritual" correctly. And it is not your privelage to redefine the word. Ritual immersion after menstruation is an example of a meaningful ritual given by Hashem. To say that this is not a ritual is to radically re-define the word, instead of using English.

It's quite different than bathing for cleanliness after menstruation. If one was concerned with cleanliness, one might use soap and hot water, it would probably be in a bathtub where the water wasn't living, and would probably include douching. IOW nothing at all like the immersion in Scripture.

That is not a ritual, it has purpose.

Again, you are trying to redefine ritual. Ritual has purpose. Especially the rituals given by God to Israel. What do you think the purpose of ritual immersion after menstruation is? It's NOT to get physically clean. It is to remove ritual impurity.

God given purposes are not found in rituals made by man. God doesn't make rituals.

How can you read the Torah, and then say God doesn't make rituals? Only by making up your own definition of ritual.

Because God doesn't make rituals... If you think God makes rituals, then you do not know God. There is nothing ritualistic about God or His methods or means.
