Buying from foot locker or any company that hires gangsta rappers and puts money in thier pocket, (hundreds of thousands of dollars) is in effect telling society that the kind of filth that they spew on society is fine and dandy.P.O.D. Cincy Warrior said:While I don't agree with the stupid ida of boycotting Foot Locker because of a *gasp* rap video with no bad lyrics in the commercial. How can you support a group like 3 Six Mafia because of one little Jesus song surrounded my tons of vulgar ones just doesn't work. A lot of rappers try to do this to make themselves look good but they're just being hypocrites. they think you can act has sinful you want as long as you know Jesus. That's not the way it works. I'm not saying there's something wrong with listening to all secular music. Just realize what the lyics are saying.
shawnhawkins said:What do you think 3 six mafia stands for? And to call me God is blasphemy, I think as a Christian you would have known that. Oh, and to say that they are cool because they thank thier Lord Jesus and pump out the kind of filth that they put out, makes them even more of a danger. If they put out filth like the majority of thier other works and then in thanking Jesus openly then so sap may say to another person, "hey they are O.K. cause they thank Jesus. Do you honestly think that Jesus, our lord and savior would want to be honored in the way that they trick you into thinking that they are honoring Him? Get real dude. Ya know Al Capone did alot for kids but look at his track record. Assuring that kids get fresh milk in thier school lunches doesn't make up for the hundreds of people that he killed. I see your logic now, you can do any vile thing that you want as long as you thank Jesus.
You are right-it will not hurt the company (ies) at all. On the other hand, if someone feels that a certain kind of music is wrong (in this case rap) is wrong, then to avoid buying at companies who use that type of music in their ads is NOT wrong.P.O.D. Cincy Warrior said:you're going to have to boycott A LOT of compainies to not be hypocritical though. It wouldn't hurt the companies too much anyway though.
The only thing that companies fear other than chapter 11 is boycotting Christians. Christians make up the largest majority in the world.Rich48 said:You are right-it will not hurt the company (ies) at all. I feel that if someone feels convicted that using a certain type of music in ads is wrong, it would be more wrong to go ahead and spend their money at those places. That is a personal choice.

This is moving a tad off topic, and perhaps we should start a new thread in a music listing, but I am going to disagree here. Much of rap music (and I use the term music questionably) is filled with cursing, sex, drugs, and more cursing. It is the old saying "garbage in, garbage out."CeCe said:While I detest rap, it isnt responsible for corrupting todays youth. SIN is. We all have a choice in it.
Ok-on that we agree!CeCe said:While it is filled with cursing and other forms of vulgarity, no one is being forced to listen to it or accept it's message. We and we alone are responsible for the choices we make. The devil doesn't make us do it (so to speak)
That's what I'm saying.

You make some good points. As I have said in other theads, Christianity is not only a religion, but it is a lifestyle. We should do the things you mention, and those are just for starters. We need to show the Savior's love at every chance we get. And yes, boycotting Footlocker will not lead anyone to Christ.crossrunner said:my 2 cents:
I think that we as Christians have bigger fish to fry than to be banning businesses for their use of a certain kind of music in their ads. This is a sick and dying world. We need to be salt and light in this world and to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Instead of worrying about the rap culture...volunteer at a soup kitchen or at a nursing home. Commit a random act of kindness, love your neighbor and your enemy.
BTW..I hate rap music probably for many of the same reasons as you do but boycotting Footlocker is not going to lead anyone to Christ.
God bless,
