Boundaries

Hi all,
Just needing prayer for boundaries in my relationships .....I am a good listener and am a devoted daughter and friend.
Because of this people often make use of my listening skills and unfortunately dump there problems on me.I end up feeling used and resentful.
Please pray for the ability to set boundaries with people who would abuse my kindness or take my friendship for granted - or in some cases steam roll over me because they sense I am gentle and they mistake it for weakness.
I have a multitude of emotions right now.
I really appreciate your prayers!

I too have trouble with boundaries and with Gods help am doing better.

I pray not just for you to learn how to establish boundaries, but that you carefully pick which people you let into your life. I have been doing a lot of research lately, for example, on narcissistic personality disorder and those with that problem tend to be use others, and be dismissive of their interests and concerns so that they can focus on themselves. They frequently become abusive. (And they seem to be all over the place!) There appears to be no success whatsoever in therapy, or otherwise, in getting them to rehabilitate. The general advice, like from the Christian doctor in the You Tube vids Surviving Narcissism, is to get them out of your life if possible. If you could do them good, great. But you can't, and they can sure do you harm, and that is generally their goal, frankly.

I absolutely do believe such people could be saved by our Lord, but, again, such instances are incredibly rare Protect yourself. You are stressed. I pray you learn to give where you are given in return in healthy relationships. You do not have to be a doormat to anyone.

I have a lot of growing pains in this area myself.
